engine swap

Hey how's everybody doing. I'm swapping a 350 into my 91 RS, I was wondering if I can install the motor with the headers on or not. They're flotechs, and the transmission is a 700r4,I did not remove the Trans.

Re: engine swap

Well why would you? It isnt to hard to install them after motor is in the car and then you dont have to worry about the extra few inches they stick out from the block which makes it a tighter fit trying to get the motor in the exact spot when you drop it in the first few times.

Re: engine swap

Just lay them in place in the engine bay and lower the engine down. Then it's easy to just bolt them up!

Are you talking about connecting the headers to exhuast pipes then lowering engine? Because that seems like it would be hard to manipulate motor and turn it much and i think he meant to connect the header to the actuall motor then drop it in.

Re: engine swap

Put the headers on first. It can be done. Its easier to tighten up the bolts while on the engine stand.

Re: engine swap

Hey thanks for all the imput. I tried to install the motor with the headers on but couldn't line up the transmission. I installed the headers after I had the motor and Trans. bolted together. If the Trans. had been out I think it would of went in real easy.

Nope, just placing the headers in the engine bay right before you lower it down all the way.
