Hooker Super Comp Headers

I have hooker super competition headers on my 89 trans am with a 350 engine and they are the worst! They are in the way of the boots on the spark plugs and the only way to get to the spark plugs is to get a 30$ socket or take the headers loose! They eat up wires like crazy. So if anyone is thinkin about gettin these dont!

Sweet, I've had the 1 3/4 H-SC-LTs on my car for almost 20 years, no issues.

Re: Hooker Super Comp Headers

running straight plug heads? not angle plug? that is the only thing I can think of that would cause interference between the spark plugs and the headers. I have been running Hooker LT's on my car with no spark plug clearance issues. I am using autolite or ngk plugs with 90* boots of the plug side of the wires.

Im running 90* boots, the plugs are behind or really close to each header tube, idk maybe i just got bad luck with these headers! But yeah im usin autolight and using heat gaurd sleeves on the boots that are touching the header

On a mostly stock car, you really won't have any power increase over a nice set of Dyno Dons shorty headers and Y pipe, which fit much better.

Long tubes aren't really worth it until you get past 500 or so RWHP.
Its also a good idea to spring for jet-hot coating.

welcome to the wonderful world of headers!! personally, I have never met a set that didn't give some problem some where. they are a good way of making more power. but IMHO they just aren't worth the head aches that they cause

My Doug LTs realy only scrape the ground on the pass side header.

The bottom of 2 primaries just before the collector...

I think its the front going up and down due to the "drag" struts", if I time tapping the brakes just before huge dips and such, it won't scrape or scrape as hard. I don't even think my Mufflex Y even scrapes...

Also you'd think that the drivers side with the drivers weight, that the DRV side would scrape. But their are only a few scratches, the pass side is ovaled...

Re: Hooker Super Comp Headers

My hookers fit fine, Accel shortie plugs and I have half an inch or more room in some places.
