Tri-y long tube vs long tube
I'm looking for some input on my exhaust options. Engine is a 358ci with super ram and fastburn heads. Right now I have slp tri-y's (on the original engine). After the swap I'm contemplating using hooker super comps or my try-y's. if I stay with the tri-y's I'm gonna do away with SLP y pipe and make my own secondary's that run on each side of the trans then reconnect pehind the trans. I may even step it up to a larger pipe. Never seen a setup like this. I think it would solve many clearance issues. I just don't know if the would flow what the super comps do.

Re: Tri-y long tube vs long tube
A properly designed tri y aka 4-2-1 header will match or outperform a long tube header at peak hp but the main advantage is generally more low to mid range power increases. More area under the curve.
If you run the right pipe size and lengths you'll have a good design. Primaries could be 1 5/8 and first Y connect to 1.875. Then connect to 2.5 collectors at the second.
I built a set of 1.75 to 2" to 2.5" tri y's for my ls1 and run faster than old pacesetter longtubes. But the dual 2.5 now vs single 3" on the longtubes may be a reason for the difference

These are 1 3/4" primaries, I was gonna step em to 1 7/8 on the secondaries to a 3" y pipe.
It'll all be fabricated so clearance can be built in. Idk on the pipe/collector length though

I'm gonna hang on to these. I do have a 1 5/8" set with dual cat secondary pipes I could prolly part with though
