How long can I expect uncoated SLP shorties to last?

Hey y'all. I have SLP 1 3/4" shorties. I didn't get them coated, but painted them with DEI 1500 deg F exhaust paint. Now I understand that this will burn off fairly quickly. How long will the paint last? Will it stink burning off?

How long will my headers last uncoated? I haven't yet put my steering column back in and the pass side is not installed yet, so this would be the best time to (sand all the paint off ) and get them coated if I need to.

If you got the stainless steel headers than they will last forever. I dont know how long the paint will last.

Have them coated. If you do it now they can do the inside and outside. If they're used they can't do the inside. I had a set of Hookers coated for my '78 T/A about three years ago and they still look great.

I suggest you skip the coating. With stainless SLP's, rust isn't an issue... and the color hasn't changed in a year of use. While I think coated headers LOOK great, I don't think they're worth the additional $200 or so when you've already dropped a bundle and got the stainless.
