Exhaust manifold temperatures?

Well, if the headers don't get that hot, then the 1200* ceramic coating spray paint I bought doesn't hold up to it's claim.

That's because they're ceramic coated. My brother just told me that manifolds get hotter than headers. They get about 10-40* hotter because they're made of cast iron and that holds heat.

I used a digital infrared thermometer on my headers, and temps were around 450º F. Sorry thats not manifolds, but it gives you an idea.

Well, then those headers were not warmed up, or you have them coated. What do your thermometers go up to, the most I've seen was 400*.

With a thermocouple on the outside of my headers I've never seen it much more than 450 either. If they were 1200F they'd be glowing red.
