Hedmen shorty headers

well I just got headers for my engine, hedman shorty headers . Are these pretty decent? I also am buying a high flow y-pipe as well.

Ive got them, had them for 3 months or so and have worked great. I didn't use their y-pipe so I can't tell you about it. The headers are a pain in the *** to install, especially with a/c. You'll have to lift both sides of the motor up a couple inches to get them to drop in.

I got the ones that came with a y-pipe. I've had them on for about six months - no problems and I like them a lot. Brackets and dipstick had to be modified. Retightened them once and no leakage so far.

Depends on who you ask but most people would probably agree that they are good value for the money.

Athough now that I look at your signiture I'm thinking you might want 1&3/4 rather than the 1&5/8 Hedmans. If I'm not mistaken all Hedman shorties are 1&5/8.

No, you are OK with the 1 5/8 headers until you are hitting 400 hp or so. Even then it is only a matter of an extra 5 or 10 hp at an outrageous rpm.

this has nothing to do with the exhaust, but you put 305 heads on that engine? i didnt think 2.02/1.60 vavles would fit in those heads, and if they do, they have to be shrouded horribly. i decent set of heads would make a world of difference on that engine. just my opinion, no flame intended.

Well the heads are worked very heavily. They were circle track race heads never used. Racers use these heads on their 350's. THey are the 601 castings. The valves may not be the numbers listed below, but i know they are the largest valves that would fit. 305 heads arent good on 350's if they are stock heads, but these are worked for performance. I've heard several people ask me about that but should run 12's no problem...we'll see
