Ok so here is a good question for all did a search and found some good info on long tube headers. My main focus is budget so i been looking at hedman headers and found that they make a set for 3rd gen cars which im excited about and are fairly good price.
My main concern is do they make a y pipe for them or will i have to make my own another too i saw if ur using a t5 your gonna have trouble with the slave cylinder since it might melt it is there a way to not let that happen amd will this all be able to bolt up to a non cat borla cat back 3 inch exhaust

ok so I decided to end up going with shorty headers instead been reading more on here that you have to ding up the long tubes to make them fit with t5 hydraulics also that I would need to make a y pipe for them which I'm not looking to send to a shop to do and mess it up how I want it. so now what is all the pros and cons of the headmen shorty headers
My hedman shorties always leaked. Can't comment on the ypipe cause I had duals made. Otherwise they fit pretty good. I'd look into the hooker 2055 if you're going shorty. They cost a little more, but the flange thickness alone is worth the price.
Ok so im reading the reviews on the hookers now you said the 2055 but when looking for them they dont come up but i found the 2064 headers will those work and they are alittle cheaper then the headman and also reviews say they wont leak like headman do. Also they have a matching y pipe as well so looks like im gonna go this route
2460s don't come with the o2 bung drilled. They do come with it welded though iirc. I've used those and like them. Again, can't comment on the ypipe I've never used one.
2055's are a great shorty header, only issue is the A.I.R tubes are in the way if you're not running emissions stuff.
I'm running headman long tubes on my 88GTA and it took a little clearance work on the passenger side, took it to a shop and had a y pipe made to my specification:
I am running 2460s with a custom Y pipe. I used aluminum gaskets at the collector and they seal well then felpro gaskets up top with no issues. I also use 1" long 5/16 small head bolts so I can get a box wrench on all of them.

I would like to run long tubes bit with a t5 its kinda tough i think im just gonna stick with the hooker 2046 headers and try them out dont mind drilling the hole for the o2 sensor thats no biggie
Mw66nova modded a set of hedman longtubes to work with a t5 years ago. Might search around for it if you want longtubes. As far as dents and dings in headers, they won't usually cost enough flow to make a difference. More inconvenient to do than anything.
yea that's the thing I want set of headers that are gonna be easy to install wont have to ding and dent them to make them fit didn't know that u had to do that with the headman long tube ones also don't want to have to custom make a y pipe for them. I thought headman offered a y pipe for the matching long tubes ones that would tuck up nicely in the frame rail but I guess not yet so ill stick with getting the hooker ones and hopefully they will be better then my crappy flowtech headers I have now
