Hooker cat back flange broke what to replace it with?

The 3 Inch 2 bolt gasket flange broke on my hooker cat back. I had it connected to a straight pipe where the cat was. I was thinking of replacing this with a weld on 3 Inch ball and socket flange. Do these substantially restrict flow? Are they strong enough for that area? From what I'm told they seal excellent. What do you guys think or reccomend

If you're going to weld anything, why not weld in a V-band flange? Nothing wrong with ball sockets, but unless you need a bit of flexibility a V-band will seal better and be more robust.

Good idea I like that style. Are they available in anything but stainless?
