How many cats on the 1987 5.7
sorry if this question has been answered before. I have had this 1987 IROC since the late 1990's. Last year I had the cat (s) removed and a new exhaust was put on. The shop put on a flowmaster 40. I had no idea how loud those were and the car was not running correct at 1200 rpms. I thought perhaps it had something to do with back pressure. So, to test that theory and quite the car back down, I had a new cat installed. But I got to thinking, did this car come with 2 cats from the factory? The shop only put one on. From what I read, it was a later option, but not available in 1987. I thank you for your info.
And by the by, the car runs much better now at 1200 rpms with the cat on.

N10 dual cats weren't available until 1989.

Thanks for the verification. I thought I might have done something stupid. Now I am wondering if I should have, or if it would have been difficult, to have the shop put two of them in.
