Re: DynoDon headers

I thought I saw a post like this somewhere but couldn't remember where.
Now a days I walk into a room and can't remember why I came in there.
To answer your question:
I have no idea why that is because the pipes are all made on the same fixture. (same with the headers)
That being said, there should be no difference. Some times those aftermarket pans cause a problem.

Re: DynoDon headers

I figured as much.. the pan is totally clear , if i align pipe to header it hangs down 7-8" where it would meet ypipe , even with y pipe i am not sure it will seal. I guess i will have to slice it , get angle right and take it somewhere to be completed. nice stuff though , not sure what I will do with my new airtubes , don't see another 3rd gen in the procession, but someone will use them. sad to lose the real craftsmen in the general automotive circle , if it isnt built in China with a big margin we won't get it. Thanks for your contribution

I had gotten a response from Don, placed pipe exactly level then checked angle in case he had anything to compare it to. No.relevance to anyone else I guess

@dgordond

For what it's worth,........ might want to double check the clamshells to be sure they are on the correct side just to be sure. I don't have part numbers handy,.. but you can see the difference by-eye.

Which headers do these go to? I’m thinking of getting one of these for my Edelbrock shorties

The Y-pipe for Dyno Don's own brand of headers doesn't fit other brands. But he builds Y-pipes for Edelbrock headers:
Edelbrock Replacement Y-pipe - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards
Single-cat y-pipe for Edelbrock headers
Dual-cat y-pipe for Edelbrock headers

And SLP headers:
Single-cat y-pipe for Street Legal Performance (SLP) headers
Aftermarket SLP replacement dual-cat pipes.

Re: DynoDon headers

Here is one that fits a pan similar to yours,
it seems to fit just fine,
yours looks like one custom made.
It appears to have extra welds in the whole y-pipe.
I would be glad to put it in my jig to check fit ( I checked the angle on mine it's, not 45*)
if you wanted to send it to me.

To anyone interested...
My plan is to make 10 more sets of headers
but the header shop wants me to pay for the material
in advance. The only way I can do that is "IF" I get
at least 8 orders for them.
So if you have been on the fence about getting a set, now is the time
to act and get your orders in.

PS: If not, that will be the end, I will hang it up and they will no longer be available.

Dyno Don
Are you still excepting orders?

This stuff has all been in box 17 years or so since we got the whole kit for 720 bucks. I think the angle ends up more like 32 degrees. I think I have decided that the easiest path is slice the pipe on a band saw,set angle and cut a pie slice from a donor pipe and have it tigged in, recoat pipe. I cant imagine how much it would cost to send that to wherever you or Don are, off my radar for a couple of weeks at this point between welding and the shop that does coating is an hour plus away no.time
