Hooker competitioin installation

I was wondering what it would take to connect these to my current exhaust on my 85 trans am. I am just needing to get headers so that I can fit the dipstick because I have a 78 350. I dont have a lot of extra money and I was wondering if their headers came with the gaskets or not and if they will bolt up to my current exhaust or if I can at least get an adapter kit. Thanks for your help.

Actually, I think that I saw something on here while searching that said that you could get a certain part number of the hooker headers that came with a y pipe or something to connect to the existing exhaust. It might have been 2055 but not sure. If not where could I get the stuff to run duals in a 85 T/A? Remember I am trying not to get very expensive(not looking like that is working out). I only have about $375 to spend at the moment but if totaly necessary I can save up for a while longer. I am just trying to get my car going as soon as possible because I currently have no transportataion. I was going to just use the "cough" lg4 manifolds for a while but they do not allow for the dipstick. Oh, I looked into the 2055 some more and it is for the tpi cars and I think that it is for the tpi cars. I am not looking for the polution controlled crap and was wondering if there are any headers I can get for my application that come with the y pipe? Please help.

The 2055's do come with the y-pipe and all, and are called "Super Comp". You really do want the TPI version, especially with a 350, because LG4/LO3 types will be very restrictive. The only thing I used that didn't come with them is the gaskets to the heads - the supplied gaskets were pretty crappy.

The "Comp" shorties, 2460, do not come with the y-pipe (nor is one available), although they do come with gaskets & bolts.

If you go true duals, go with long-tube headers. They are available, and are typically cheaper than the shorties. Fabrication costs for the rest of the exhaust will be 4 or 5 times as expensive as the headers, though.

If you stick with shorty/y-pipe type, Hedman has about the least expensive, with no A.I.R. fittings.

You probably don't want to connect any of these to your '85 exhaust. New front-to-rear is the best way to go. Unfortunately, your $375 probably isn't going to cut it.

Oh, I have pretty much decided that I am going to save up for a while, but I would really just like to get my car going. I have been thinking about the hooker supercomp long tubes and a mufflex y pipe. I was wondering if I could just run it with the headers and y pipe without a problem untill I had the money for the rest of it?

oh, and it does have a custom cat back but it is not really much better than the stock. It is not even mandrelly bent.
