Yeah. My friend has a 70' chevelle, and one day his muffler fell off, so he was like, screw it, and took the other one off, then the pipe fell off, so he said screw it, and took both pipes off to run stright headers. DAMN THAT THING WAS LOUD!!! Like, he gotten police reports for neighboorhood disturbance. So today, I was like, what the hell, I'll try it. So I unbolted them and let them hang safely. OMG! I like it, I like it. WILL go to the races one day like that. It was awesome. I recomend everone try it once. BTW, I put the exhaust back on an hour latre. LEGAL AGAIN!!!

You mean "no exhaust" or "straight manifolds"...

Until late July last summer, I ran the '57 with the mufflers dumping to atmosphere. The noise reverberating in the passenger compartment got old, to say the least. After the tailpipes were installed, the noise was reduced to a tolerable level, and it didn't affect my 1/4 times one bit.

More and more tracks and classes are requiring some type of muffler these days. Bandimere has what they call "Club Clash", which requires DOT tires and mufflers, for instance.

Of course, they also run "Street" classes that don't require mufflers (go figure...). In that series, uncorking the Warlocks - well, that's a different story...

straight exhaust sounds awesome...at least until you get up around 4500-5500 RPM and it starts rapping out. still kind of a cool sound.

One day my I-Pipe slid off the Y. So until I got it fixed one day after work I slid it off. And drove home with open headers, as I turned into my street this kid in a ***** was pulling out and I threw a light rev. I'm sure it scared him. There's nothing like tapping the gas just the slightest with open headers.

A stock chevy V8 with no muffler sounds like complete whitetrash crap to me. It won't make you faster just louder and more annoying sounding.

A 96 z-28 ran striaght headers and took off 3 tenths off his et. The original setup was a high flow cat with a 30 series flowmaster. He installed an off road pipe. Was pulling 12.7's and then 12.4's when he ran straight headers.

Yeah, I meant that I was running straight manifolds and no exhaust. Great sound, and it does help acceleration, a bit. But it sounds great!
