With or without?
With or without?
I've got a question. I just pulled my stock muffler off and I'm currently running without. I have a Hokker Comp to put on, but I'm liking the sound of it right now. I know what it would sound like with the muffler, I was just wondering if anyone runs without a muffler? I know that you can get the piping that runs from the pipe straight to the tips. But I want to know what everyone thinks...thanks

You don't need a muffler to pass emissions. The only thing a muffler is there for is just sound suppression. When I used to work for Dodge, one of the most common things we did was cut the muffler off and run a pipe out the back of the trucks. Hell, cops don't even care, as long as they can see a tail pipe your in the clear.
The best one we did was my buddy had a 99 Sentra. We cut the muffler off, extended the pipe 1 ft, and bought a $15 exhaust tip from Pep Boys. Funny part was the exaust looked cool as hell and sounded better than the $300 muffler my neighbor installed on his Honda. Man, he was pissed!

My exhaust system is all stock back to the cat then I had the muffler taken out. I really like the sound. Everybody around me has a rice burner and my exhaust sounds so much better. I am taking the cat. out in a few days to see what exactly that does for it. I say leave the muffler off, take it back and get your money back if you can.

Thanks for all the input....
Well I have come to a decision. I'm going to leave the muffler off and run my tips. I just can't get enough of that sound, so I'm gonna get it done this weekend hopefully (fingers crossed) Thanks again for all of you all's input.
uhhhh just wondering...none of you guys happen to have six cylinders under the hood, do you? i'm geussing it wouldn't sound quite as appealling with only 191 cubes. hope you'll clear this up. thanks
I wouldn't have any idea what a 6 would even begin to sound like. I mean, six cylinders is bad enough, I mean, no power, no sound, no speed, what's the deal with that????~hehe Nah I'm just teasin' ya, but I've got a V8. Laters
