headers

well, on a car like yours, headers I believe will be kind of a challenge if you don't have something to lift the engine up with. If i'm not mistaken you have to raise the engine 6 inches to get them on.

My engine did not have to be lifted to get the Hedmans on it.

Installing headers is still a fairly big job and it's not going to be real cheap.

As for the cost I'd expect to find a big variation between one shop and the next particularly if they don't do a lot of that kind of work.

I'd suggest getting a few quotes from some local shops that specialize in speed work.

I haven't heard of any engines being lifted. Took my brother and I 6hrs to install in the driveway. I would look for a shop to charge 6-8 hrs. The longest part was getting crap out the way and getting the manifolds off.

Took me 12 hours on a '91 Z28 and the engine had to be unbolted and jacked up to fit the headers down in.

Costed me $580. But that included a custom Y-pipe.

These are headers. They replace exhaust manifolds.

So if u install those suckers, you'll increase the exaust flow thus creating more HP and a better sound, right??? Seems like it would be worth it to take the weekend and install em' yourself if its gonna cost $600!

how much do a pair of those cost?

It really depends on brand, primary size and long tube or short tube. You can get them from around 100 to upwards of 500.

I'd install them yourself, just try not to work down to get the headers in look in renting a garage for 100 bucks or somethin or you could probably even put your car on ramps, just try to work getting them in from under your car.
