Stock manifold bolt break

inside bolt on 5.7l on passenger side is snapped off and leaking, Im not seeing Dorman has a clamp that will work, does anyone else manufacture these or does the engine/head have to come out?

Re: Stock manifold bolt break

"inside bolt?"

You probably don't have any responses because people don't know what you're talking about.

V8 manifolds have 6 bolts holding them to the heads, and if you have a leak, it's probably more likely that more than one was loose than just one snapped off. The 2 center ports will sometimes warp and leak bolts or no bolts, and if you have a leak, you're causing a hot spot that will warp it and make it worse.

That said, take the manifold off, and there is enough room to Helicoil most of the exhaust bolts, though you might have to get creative with a 90* drill. Well, unless you have a factory AC car and you broke off one of the back bolts, that'll be a headache.

Re: Stock manifold bolt break

It is a factory a/c car, but have with much dispair, removed the cat forward pipes and starter to reveal some working room once manifold is off, I am in agreement that a right angle drill is the only way, am also deleting the cats and air system while its all off, stay tuned

Re: Stock manifold bolt break

any suggestions?
Sure. You could maybe tell us where it was. Manifold to head, Y-pipe to manifold, etc. Maybe even, was it just a "bolt", or was it one of those "studs", with a place to attach some other thing (oil dipstick for example) with a nut.

A photo of a broken-off threaded thing with a nut oddly welded to it doesn't help us know what part it is that you need. Maybe even, a photo of where that came from.

Re: Stock manifold bolt break

Use a basic 3/8" 16 gr 8 bolt. Whatever the length of the manifold hole plus 3/4"

If you need the mounting stud, then try dorman 675217. PS manifold had a bunch of odd lengths, so that kit may not do the job. Last ditch, use a piece of 3/8" threaded rod and nut. I had to for one stud
