flowtech fit problem
i had a problem puting in my flowtech headers yesterday. the y pipe flange on the pasenger side header comes in contact with the frame rail of the car. the headers otherwise fit up perfect, the y pipe and the headers bolted together with no problem and there is no other clerance issues.
i do notic more power but the biggist gain is in the tone of the exhaust. loud is the word. i have the stock i-pipe,flowmaster 80 series, and flowtech header and y the car sounds like a drag car and is louder then my friends 88 mustang and he has a 95 cobra motor, 1 3/4 headers, 2.5 h-pipe, and 40 series flows, it sounds almost as good and as loud as my friend with his 98 ram air trans am with borla
if any of you guys out there have the same problem as me with the headers tell me [COLOR=crimson]

does any one have these
can anyone tell me what is wrong
This is a little different, but maybe it will help. I have the flowtech afterburners on my malibu, and the passengers side hits the framerail, and the drivers side is damn close to hitting. I already had to dimple one of the tubes that was hitting the upper control arm, just to get the passenger side to bolt in. I posted about it in the MonteCarloSS.com message board and someone said it could be caused by bad motor mounts. That would make sense if only one side was a problem, but both sides are hitting. I'm starting to just think they make a crappy product. Maybe you should call summit or wherever you got them from and see what they say. HTH

I have the flowtech coated headers and y pipe on my GTA, they fit perfectly, there was no interference, the coating was great, the quality of the welding, and the o-ring / head seal was excellent. The only thing I altered was where the y pipe comes together, I had that flared into a 3" mandrel bent pipe around to the cat, I have a 3" dynomax cat back.
Check the torque figure in the sig.
I did have to remove the starter motor to install them as the fit is a little tight there, but again, no interference problems. Have you checked all of your motor mounts?
Cheers
Richard

You would be amazed at how identical the cheaper model headders are compared to a more expensive set. I set my longtube flow techs side by side with hookers and they are identical. $80 difference, but then what would you expect thier both made by Holley

I dont have headders on my Fbodys so Im not sure about the Y pipe. This is the only Y pipe listed for Camaro & Firebird.
