I just got a used Camaro. It's got a 305. I think it sounds like a Cadillac. It's too quite.
I want a deep sounding muffler like the one I heard on my dad's friend's truck. He's got 2 pipes coming out the back, and he said they're glasspacks? Is that right?
Well my dad don't work on cars, so he don't know what kind I should get. His friend said that I won't like glasspaks on my car. He said they only sound good on old cars and trucks.
What kind do you guys like? I saw some on that Jeg's catalog, on the internet. But there's so many. I think I like the price of the Dynomax. It looks like it's OK. Not tto cheap, but not as much as that Borla ones like they put on the Corvette. Those are expensive.

Flowmaster of course.
I would go with an entire exhaust system instead of just a muffler. There are lots of choices though. Each system sounds different.

what are you plans with your car? flowmasters don't flow the best but sound VERY good. if you plan on staying under 400hp you'll be fine iwht a flowmaster. I'm working on getting a sound clip for mine too. but the sound is hard to explain, but it just thumps ya in the chest from behind. I love mine :-)

I'm quite happy with my Hooker
(Muffler that is)
(Muffler that is)
I don't want to replace the whole exhaust. I'm only 16 and just got my liscence in Oct. I just got my car about 1 month ago. It's purple. And it has the RS symbol on the bottom under the doors.
My mom said I couldn't have an IROC because the insurance would be too high. Like I said my dad don't know nothing about cars so he hasn't been able to teach me. So I don't think I'll be putting a 400 horse power motor in.
I just want looks and sound. I have heard Flowmasters before, but I don't like the price. I only make $100 week at my job. I saw the cheap ones in a ad in Chevy High Performance for like $15. Are those OK? I don't care if it lasts, or makes a ton of horse power. I'm only gonna have the car until I go to college.
And I don't really want it loud. I just want it to sound better than stock. Kinda like a deep low sound like a big dump truck sounds when it's sitting at a stop light. You know, that low rumble.

Well isn't that a vague *** answer. Originally posted by IROCZTWENTYGR8

I don't wanna pay for the better stuff. What I'm asking is if anyone has used the $15 mufflers and how they sound. That's all.
Oh yea.
How are the Dynomax. There about $30. Are they cool? I'd be willing to spend that for a little better one, but not no $75 for a Flowmaster. I don't have a race car man.

Its an answer that makes sense.
Do u want something good or something thats not?? Yeah they are good, but not real loud. A nice flowing muffler though. If u don't want to pay alot I would say go with them. U don't need a race car to have a nice sounding V8.

Well yea. That's what I want. Cheap, but sounds better than all my friends Jap Traps!!
They don't got that strong sound like a V8 man. That's what I want. I already beat my friends little Honda Civ-sh_t. And he spent like $400 on a big coffee can looking thing.
Thanks. I guess I'll just have to try it. Can I slip it on and not clamp it down first so that I can get an idea of what it'll sound like? That way I can send it back without it being installed? Or buy one from Auto Zone and do that?
Thanks man.

I got a Dynomax muffler for sale. Only about 2000 miles or so maybe less. I'd let it go for like 20 bucks plus shipping. Let me know if you're interested and I can get you more details.

No what you asked was "What kind of muffler should I get?" You should get a Flowmaster like the other gentleman said.

You can put it on and not clamp it and listen too it, never did it though.
The Hooker is $70, just listen to my sound clip in my signature. Of course it won't sound the same, but it will be better than what you got. They make $15 mufflers?, I wouldn't even try those, unless they are glasspacks.

Geez. Some of you guys have a lot of trouble answering questions.
Yes the Flowmasters sound good, but they are a bit pricey. Dynomax is a good middle of the road brand. They have more expensive types, but the Super Turbo is the most common and runs about $35.
A friend of mine put two Cherry Bomb "Turbo" mufflers on a 1/2 ton Chevy and they've lasted 3 yrs now. They sound pretty good and cost him about $25/ea. He got them at AutoZone or Super Trak (can't remember which).
I remember reading a muffler test that Super Chevy did and they said the $15 muffler that Summit has is good. It flows well and they liked the sound. Don't know how long it would last though.
Just keep in mine that a crossflow style muffler is gonna cost more $$$. Any $15 muffler you have is only gonna be 1 pipe in and 1 pipe out.
Good luck with your new car, and Welcome to the Board. Although I'll bet you haven't gotten that welcoming feeling from these guys.
JK guys.
