Damn man you only got that celica by a car!?
Just playing.
If you just cut it off from the stock piping then I think thats pretty white-trash looking. "Dat der muffler dun feel off but she sure does sound better!" If you had straight pipes with pipe coming out to the back it'd look a lot cleaner. You probably aren't gaining much without it. Is your car TPI? when I was basically stock with TPI I'd run better times with a muffler. I guess no muffler gives you less low-end torque but more upper-HP. TPI cant really go "up" very far so I was losing 1 tenth and 2mph

I'd put 1 on dude. That doesn't sound good IMO, and for TPI it can't be doing anything for your car I guess.

if it was dry i would've blew him off the line. but whatever....i had the muffler chopped and redirected away from my gas tank so its aiming towards the ground for safety reasons....my car is a tpi, damn i hate my 5500 redline. well thanks for the info, looks like im goin to throw another muffler back on, looks like Borla is my way to go.
I don't care if anyone argues with me on this. But I hacked my muffler off right after the axel before i went down to get my cat back welded on and drove it to the shop that way. If i didn't it would have proabbly fell off. But after i gotthe flow-80 on, it actually did have more power over 3500 RPMS and sounded not only a bit louder (probably due to straight exit instead of curved down) but much better. IMO straight pipes make cars sound like speedboats.

I ran without a muffler for a whole summer and maybe more. My muffler basically rusted off, tailpipes were all rusty and you go over a bump and they would swing down and drag. Previous owner did a hack job on the exhaust. It's funny because it has the SLP headers and y-pipe but came with a dynomax superturbo with a 2.5" in and dual 2" out. So I chopped the muffler off at the 2.5" adaptor and was going to install a borla kit BUT the borla had the same 2.5" in. They had told me it was a 3" in but I don't even want to get into the details. Basically I had no choice but to waite for them to send the right muffler out and it never happened. Anyways, it didn't sound bad unless it got above 3000rpm, then it was LOUD. It gave me a headache just driving at around 2000rpm on the highway.
Fun for a while but not something I enjoyed driving everyday. After I did the engine swap it was a little worse and I had to put the car into neutral whenever I passed a cop so they didn't pull me over for noise violations. Then I got the reducer removed (torched off) and the car went nowhere. I noticed a big change in the feel of the car, no more low end and even louder when the foot was to the floor.
Get a muffler, the sounds are cool but you're better off getting a cut-out and using it at the track and the muffler for the street.

exaust dump right?
will you lose hp/tq?
or since you still have some exaust, you still get some back pressure?

my tips are getting rusty and i think im just going to replace those for a different look....
adn do the exaust dump...
