What Should I do?? Manifold or Headers??

I have a 90 Iroc with TBI (see sig) and would like to upgrade from my super restrictive boat anchors, but have very little $ to do this with...

I am wonder if you guys think it would be worth upgrading to L98 manifolds (and if you think I can get them cheap) and a better y-pipe. Would I gain much power off this??

OR, if I should just fork out the cash for a set of headers. And how important is coating?

One other reason that I am considering using manifolds is due to a requirement in the Camaro Mustang racing league (which I hope to eventually race in).

Thanks,
JT

if I were you and wanted something along the cheaper line. get the hedman's for $105 through jegs with the $100 ypipe. the coating will lower underhood temps and make em look kick ***. but the cheaper thing to do would be to order them uncoated, then brush off the paint that is on em. and put on some hitemp 1300deg silver or somthing from a parts store.

Don't even waste your time on manifolds just save up to get some headers. Like mentioned above you can pick up some cheap ones, but be sure to get a new y-pipe.

Alright, well I will save up for some headers...

I see that hedman has some long tubes for our cars ($104.99). Are they any good? How bad is the install?

Oh yeah and one more thing, is header wrap worth it? I've heard both good and bad, I'm just worried about under hood tem.

Thanks,
JT

Your under hood temps will be fine, although coating would be good. Don't waste your money on header wrap. If oil drips down on them, you run the risk of fire, and moisture can get under them and speed up rusting.

header wrap caused our header on the spitfire to crack.

install is no fun.
