Custom exhaust question

ok guyz i an doing a do-it-ypurself custom exhaust. i bought a flowmaster muffler with 2.5" out and in. now if i order jsut a 3" intermediate pipe and get a reducer to make it fit the muffler will this work? thanks

Yes, it will "work", but the 2.5" inlet will produce a restriction that will reduce the effectiveness of the 3" I-pipe (that's basically what the $134 JC Whitney PaceSetter cat-back is). You would probably be better off returning it and just getting a full cat back system w/3" I-pipe, 3" inlet muffler, etc.
