i just put new headers on my 86 iroc-z i still have the catback put when i went to the shop in town they said it would be 150 to put it back together the way it was. i said the stock way the pipes come together is more like a T then a Y and if i could do it that way. he said it could be done i was ok about this then i ask if i can run dual exhaust on it. and this is what he told me. " i would have to cut into the frame!" i was like i think i well take it to a different place but can't duals be ran on 3rd gen's i think they would have to oval the tube but cut my frame want ever!!! but if not i well keep the cat but replace with a flowmaster. what do you think? i would really love to run duals with either 40 flows or turbo mufflers!!!

its better to then to fade away!!!

Search this board, guys have done it, but it involves some modification and more money. I would suggest against it, but if you're building some serious HP then it wouldn't hurt.

I asked a shop about duals on my 88 and they just said impossible because of where the wires and stuff were. Didn't even give me an option. I guess everything is possible but there might be a question of ground clearance and like Mark A Shields said its gonna cost some $$$

Juat keep asking around eventually you will find a shop that has done it already, without cutting your car in half.

I have 3" mandrel bent true duals on my Iroc. It can be done !! Go to a truck supply (big rigs) and buy your 45 and 90 degree mandrel bends and your straight pipe. Take these to an open minded chassis builder. That is how I did it. I have plenty of ground clearance and both pipes go over the axle and out to the back bumper. We had to do a little hammer work to the tunnel were it curves down to meet the floor and in the back to the luggage well for the mufflers. I used Flowmasters, they were the only ones with a 3" inlet/outlet that would fit.

Ive got them. 1 mandrel bend and a couple lengths of straight pipe is all it took. I ran them myself and had to get airshocks to give me a little more clearance but it worked out great. There should be my post about somewhere within the last week or so.

I do not have a good camera at the moment. I am trying to get a friend of mine over to take some pics. He has a really nice digital camera. He is always busy, but I will try to get him over to take some in the near future. I will post as soon as I can get them.

I just finished duals on my 89'. What do you have for a motor? I only did it cause of my setup. I ran Oval tubing till in front of the Axle. Unless you need it stay with single, alot cheaper and less of a hastle.
