Aerochamber Users, look in here.

Alright, I've checked the archives and couldn't find out exactly what I need to know.

Right now I have the edelbrock TES headers going into a 40series flowmaster where the cat should be and thats it.
I know its not the best setup to keep it quiet inside the car, but I don't like the look of tailpipes, and my cars is more set up for drag racing so a little less weight doesn't hurt either.

Now that I'm getting a little older the resonance inside the car is killing me, so today I ordered a 3" aerochamber.

Question is , is this the right muffler to cut back on interior resonance inside the car, at least a little, or should I be looking for something else?

Outside noise is not a concern, thanks

I think you made a wise decision. I made sound file of cruising at 60-65 mph, I can't find it right now though, and with the windows up you can barely hear it on the sound file. Cruising at about 55mph you'll get some interior noise, but nothing major.

the hooker catback is kinda quiet below 3300RPM (give or take) Cruising down the highway at 65mph I really don't hear much. Since you'll have tailpipes and not exhaust dumping under the car it'll be extremely quiet compared to what you're used to. You'll like being able to listen to the radio, talk on the cell phone, and talk to people in the backseat all at the same time.

The hooker catback is only loud on acceleration, any other time its a low rumble.

Did you order the catback or just a 3inch in/out aerochamber?? If you ordered the catback you'll be fine, my firebird doesn't resonate much at all inside. But my girlfriends camaro has a single 3inch in/out aerochamber with a turndown mounted under the rear passenger seat and MAN is here car loud and rumbly! Just make sure you make a tailpipe setup if you go with this.

just the 3" muffler, I know it might still resonate inside, but if its even a little better than the flowmaster, it will be worth it.

thanks for the replies

Alright, I got my aerochamber this morning and as soon as I looked at it, I was worried. I looked in it and the thing is so opened up, and free flowing I wasn't sure if it would muffle anything, but I put it on and it really surprised me.

It was exactly what I was looking for. The resonation is completely gone. I didn't even put the turndown back on the muffler. It doesn't have the same tone as the flowmaster(which I'll miss), it sounds closer to stock than anything(if I can remember what stock sounds like).

Just from driving it around I can definitley feel a gain in power, at all rpm's.

I wouldn't say it was better than the flowmaster(people like different things for different reasons), but I'm glad I bought this thing and thanks to all who recomended it. BTW cant beat the price

when I first started my car with the aerochamber it was VERY quiet. I was really disappointed. After about 2 month it got really loud and perfect sounding ...let it break in a little and you'll love it.
