I really didn't feel any difference in power with mine uncapped but I love the sound. Im sure we all have our eyes out for cops so when ive seen one I just coast until he is a safe distance and if hes following you just dip into your nearest fast food ect.
I have a dual cat 350 and mine is after the cats on the 3in pipe. There was a perfect spot on my formula where I can access it by just reaching under and it sticks out no lower than my stock exhaust pipes.

im not worried about cops...here the fart pipes are louder believe it or not.

i'm getting ready to put one on my car... and i wouldn't worry about the cops getting you, unless the cops in your area are just a**holes.... i got a buddy with a 99 WS6 with a cutout right behind his cat... it sounds awesome... it sounds better than most exhaust systems... and for daily driving it really isn't that much louder than something like Borla... he has never had any problems with the cops about it.. as a matter of fact he has cops compliment how good it sounds...

if you look in jc whitney they have cutouts for 20$ that have a cable tha goes to under your seat or dash or somewhere you can reach it in the car so that when you pull the littel handle on the cable it opens the cutout thenif you see a cop then you push back cown adn it closes it so it sounds normal again.i dont have any info on wheither they realy work or not but i would say for $20 you realy can go wrong cause if it realy works that would be cool.

i have/had a pull cable cutout. i would stay away from it. it worked really good when it did work. the cable kept getting brittle and breaking. i will try to get some pics up thursday

so a section of the tube is actually cut out? or a "bite" out of the side?

I just got Summit's 3-wingnut cut out. You cut a section of the pipe out, weld the cutout in it's place. It's like a Y pipe with one side removable. The I pipe is a great place for it since you can turn it sort of sideways for ground clearance, and you can reach it really easy.

The weather is nice enough now to take the t-tops off and uncap the cutout. When I did, I did notice my flowtech was rusting badly, something to consider.

I have the one from JC whitney with the pull cable. A choke cable or something comprable from Autozone or whatever would work if the cable became brittle in the future. I havent ever used it, but I'll let it go for $10. I opted for the "nomaster" muffler which is why I never installed the cutout. The car is really not too loud with just SLP headers and exhaust and my catco cat - I've never been pulled over for noise here. The cutout would produce a similar sound as my open setup. Let me know! I've actually heard from others the FlowTech holds up better than the Summit. I think I would rather buy a FlowTech product more than Summit.

I'll post a picture of it for you shortly. I would probably mount it on the trans tunnel or floorboard so you could get to it under your seat, but still remain hidden and non-tacky. I suppose you could even mount it right under the rocker panel outside of the car if you didnt want to mess with running the cable. It would be quicker and less dirty than unscrewing wing nuts. If you are skilled enough to weld in the cutout, I would expect no problems with making the flap mechanism work. Later

i am gonna put mine in place of my cat and have a muffler place weld a 3-bolt plate to my I pipe and a peice of pipe with another 3-bolt flange onto the cut out and a another on the other end of the cut out, then i am just gonna bolt a 3-bolt bolt flage to my y pipe cause i have edelbrock headers and i don't wunna weld anything to them. wut do u guys think of that idea? i figure then i can just get a universal cat and weld some flanges on that and slide it right in.
Here's what mine looks like. The cutout is about 2 feet or so after the two pipes come together. I really like the sound. It isn't too loud really. I think most of the hick trucks around here are much louder, and they don't get pulled over. How much power do you guys think my setup would add with the cutout uncapped?

Yes, the cutout is cast iron and yes, it's for up to 2.25 pipe. Do you still want to see a picture of it? Let me know
Synapsis- I have no idea what happened to my I pipe. It isn't as bad as it looks in the pic, but I plan on changing my exhaust soon anyway. I don't know what kind of cutout it is... the previous owner had it installed. I'll see if I can contact him this week and find out.

Ill have to see how big the pipes are on my car...I think they may be bigger than 2.25.
