gutted converter...

I recently gutted my converter...now i am getting a tiney sound because of it. Some have mentioned running a pipe through it to fix the prob. But my question is... The little pipe that runs through it and comes out the side of the converter. What is it for? It was a dual converter. It's in the way for running a pipe through...can i just cut it out...or should i plug it?what should i do?

If you gutted the cat, there's no use for it. Cut it out. It's to help the catalyst do it's job.

if i cut out the interior pipe. will it hurt to leave the rest of it hooked up? so that it looks legal. what i mean is...it dosn't look like there is an opening to it inside the converter. so if i cut it out inside the converter, there will be an opening and the exaust fumes will run through the pipe and to the engin...or where ever it goes! Is that ok? or should i just plug it all together?

The other end of that pipe is hooked to a pump driven off the engine belt. If you leave it hooked up, it'll just pump air into the exhaust (which it pretty much did in the first place.) It should be fine still hooked up.
