Alternator Alteratives

Has anyone seen an alternator mounted on the rear diff and driven by a pulley mounted on the yoke?

Absolutely common in dirt track racing. Since they mount the battery in the back, it's only a short hop to the alternator.
Remember it's not running unless your moving. Any of the stock cars (ie nascar) already have a diff cooling pump, so they run them like everybody else - off the engine.

A lot of street rods have them for a clean engine compartment.
If you sit in traffic alot you better have a big battery and even more so at night!
Of course how many street rods do you see actually cruising?
