Custom STB

I made this a while ago but i thought i'd post it in this forum too. I used 1" round tubing and for the mounting plates i used 1/4" plate stock. It was pretty straight forward: Measure the distance between the struts, figure in the small bend to clear the carb, cut the plates with the plasma cutter, drill the holes, tack it all on the car, then fully wled everything together and buff it and clear it! if anyone wants more specs or info just ask

..makes a pretty noticeable difference in the front end too. A lot firmer while cornering

Ok, umm.. don't tell me you tack welded it onto the car.

Believe me, there will be plenty of times that you wish you could take that off to work on something.

lol, no, im pretty sure he ment bolt the plates to the car, then tack the bar on to the mounting plates... that way it fits on the car perfectly.

a pic up close of your mounting plates would be nice.

also, how does it clear the air cleaner?

I dont know, looks like he just welded it all together. Could pose quite an interesting situation if the engine needs to come out. I guess it could all be cut out, and done again. What a PITA.

haha! you guys crack me up. Yes its BOLTED to the car not welded. I did as MrDude_1 stated, tack welded the bar to the mounts so it fit right, then welded it all off the car with the good welder. BTW i mig welded it all together but used a few passes and on the last one i used a bunch of tack welds so it looked pretty cool but looks more like SMAW than GMAW. It was a pretty big gap to fill...
