The setup was made/peiced together by me.

The vortec TB and hat are held on by a clip, but that let go at 12psi

how is that strap attached right now at the base of the throttle body? does the throttle body attach to the manifold with 4 studs, like on each corner?

it's a good method, just needs some cleaning up. I would get some stainless steel sheet metal, and cut out a three legged bracket similar to what you have bolted together. then make brackets that attach under the studs holding the throttle body, between the t-body and the nut, one on each side, in the front, and one between the two in the back, and make the bracket kind of hook into the front two brackets, and bolt into the back one, right in the middle. then to take it off, you just undo one bolt, and unhook the thing in the front. maybe make the legs of the strap like 3/4" or so, and make the hooks like a 1/2" wide, just taper it down, and bend the end over like a V

so it still holds like you have it, but its neater, and you can make it shiny, hehhheh. the only other thing I can see is to bolt straps on the hat, but then you'd have to drill holes in it and seal them up good.

Go to the boneyard and snag a wormgear type off a Ford truck. There are some huge ones on a few of the older pick ups. Can't really tell the dimensions from that pic (actually can't really tell much from that pic), but it may be worth a try. Have seen then doubled up on some apps.

Hello,

The straps goto the front two TB bolts (double nut). The rear to a fresh 5/16 tapped stud with a spacer to tighten it down. Right now, all you have to do is remove the back bolt. But its damn ugly!

The TB bolts to a spacer, rather than the manifold itself. Since its a vortec tb, and uses a 3 bolt design rather than 4..

Oh, so it's lkike a V configuration? How good are you at metalworking? (got another pic, maybe from the side?)

Sure. Heres a side view when I was still figuring out the plumbing.

What would be nice maybe, is a clamp on the back that can be tightened down to hold the center of the TB hat maybe? The adapter has plenty of room in the back to tap something.

I can weld steel, but not aluminum. I tried, just. I'm bad at it.

I also lied in the above post. the straps goto the front two studs that hold the ADAPTER TO THE MANIFOLD. Not the TB studs. The rear strap goes to an independant stud I tapped.

The TB used 3 studs, one in the front, two in the back. As you can see in the secnd picture.

hmm.

if you want to keep the external cage strap down idea, i would get some pencil sized rod, and bend it to match the contours of the hat.

weld some nice tabs on it, paint it a semigloss black, and it would look nice...

or do somthing similar, but have it mount inside the hat to the throttlebody... then have just a stud come out the top and screw it on, like a carb.

This I had considered. An arch that would follow the flow of the hat, and then tap the center for a bolt. I had concernes about impeding airflow though..

at 12psi, i wouldnt worry about it. lol.

besides, you could always port the throttlebody to make up for it.... and if you did it carefully, it probly wont impede airflow any measurable amount.

Vent to the atmosphere.. A BOV is required. Without it, the compressor surges, and often the plumbing blows apart.

The car ran 12.40 @ 114mph last night with 21d advance. I kept detonating at 26d, regardless what I did.. 21d worked, but at the slow et.

Unfortunately, I think I blew a piston after my last run. Cars got a crazy skip now. Pulled all the plugs and they all look fine. Checked all the wires, they're all sparking. oh well.

How does the hat even seal against the TB opening? Do you have a pic without the hat on the TB?

I don't know the monoblade dimension or how the hat attaches but if it's like a carb then this site will help.
