Pontiac Fonts - making decals?
I’ve been thinking of making up some custom logos for some projects and have been wondering if anyone has any good font sets that match or come close to matching the fonts that were used for the formula logos, the hood scoop logos on the formulas and early TA’s, the Trans Am logos…?
Secondly, does anyone know of an easy way to turn a logo into a decal? If all else fails I’m pretty good at printing something like that out, cutting it out and using it as a mask for actual paint, but a decal would be much easier to deal with.

Wow, that’s an almost totally worthless response.
You just posted what amounts to an advertisement for someone that is not a paying sponsor in response to a tread in the fabrication forum. Do you think I would have bothered posting this here if I had any intension of paying someone to do it?

I've been trying to do something like that myself. I actually plan on getting some lettering from Pepboys and first paint my worthless gray nonexisting glovebox Red, than lay the letters on it. Paint it black, take the letters off and it should look pretty good. Making the decals might be a problem, but a guy I work with has a printing shop and I am pretty sure that he can hook ya up with some good deals. I'll talk to him, and you let me know if you are intrested. He's done some crazy ****.!

I just want something to lay out what I want with. Once you have that it’s easy enough to cut out the pattern by hand and use it as masking or evne cut out the decal type thing by hand. Worst case you can take the file to almost any sign shop and have it printed for a couple of $.

I am going to have my friend draw some up for me and the flea market down the block has a guy that makes them for fairly cheap.

let me know his works out crossfire, i'm going to repaint my car this summer, and wanted to lay down the black base coat, then paint on gold lettering, then clear it all.... If I can print out the correct fonts, then cut it out, I can tape it on and paint inside that... (that's the idea right?)

i think you are looking to do something like this. this is avery vinyl, cut with a blade, then painters masked. its basic lettering, for the fenders of my project.
first i cut the shape, then removed the extra material, then painter masked. they make stuff for ink jet, that should work on the inside.
I run a print shop for the air squadrons here in norfolk and have done tons of custom stuff for them off of pictures.
if you want to take the time, anythings possible..

yes. it can come in sheets, or in rolls. it is what they print or plot on with the expensive machines. painters mask is a low tack tape that leaves no residue, so its perfect for decal transfer.
im in the process of making racing stripes and might mess with flames.
what are you looking to make? i might have an easy way to do it.

I found an easy and cheap way to make em. Find a magazine that has the thick glossy pages. Rip it out and use the 2 in. wide painters tape to cover the page making shure you overlap it a little bit.You can run this thru your printer and print whatever you want on it. Make shure you turn the ink down on you priter because the ink does't soak into the tape like it does with paper. You can then carefully cut out what you need. You might need to add some regular making tape to the joints so they wont seperate when you peel the decal of the paper backing
