Guido knows his stuff. So does kenwood. I've seen them both contribute to this site countless times. But you guys are abusing your privelages. It pisses me off that I was banned for 3 months once for comments much more minor than this.... but it's okay for you guys. Not to mention Dean (RTFC). He's been banned several times. Many of which were for comments much minor than this.
You guys turned this thread into a pissing contest. Needlessly! The guy wasn't saying he was faster than you guys. He didn't come on here and say he's g0d's gift to forced induction. He got 8#'s of FREE boost and was showing how he did it.
Unfortunately it's not up to me or there would be a few people that just got banned for a few months.
This thread is worthless now...

Im curious too. Ive seen some really hacked cars running numbenrs faster than the cars Ive built before. But just giving this thing credit based on a picture alone is not going to cut it in my book
So, guido, and all the other bashers, exactly what is wrong with what we see here and why? The way I see it, he got 8 pounds of boost pretty dam cheap.
Dont question my car guy status
IROC-Turbo, you did good, and you sure left an impression on a lot of people and you're only on your 7th post! Why can't someone like you live near me? There's some reall;y cool junkyards around here!

I used to be half owner in a junk yard and i done some crazy things there. That was until crushing time came and my partner cared nothing about the cars and dollar signs rolled into his eyes and it was all over.16-60's stangs,a rare 69 chevelle factory 427(no engine though),hemi cudu drag car(not origional engine),too many nice/rare cars to name.He even crushed my personal 66 SS impala 327 with the bigblock body(for those of you that dont know what that means-the BB body was stamped for dual ex and they ran outa BB's and put SB's in the bodies) and even his brothers car that he rode up there to help us in.But plain and simple don't turn me loose in a JY as most of the cars wouldn't be crushed they would be drove outa the yard.
But back to the issue."I call BS when i see it".Question-what is the BS here??Is there something here i'm missing??And "If it smells like a rat..".I'm not sure what you mean there. Are you saying its photoshopped or something,or that the setup is just setting on there for the picture??If you think that i have ways to prove it.If anyone is interested in how this setup was accomplished PM me and i'll give full detail. And guido did your first project turn out perfect and everyone loved it??This was my frst time fabbing anything and i have no special tools and no machine shops or performance shops around.I could go on and on about you putting a LS1 in a 3rd gen but hey its your car some people want origionality and some want something unique. But yours wont be the first LS1/3rd gen swap so does that mean you are jumping on the bandwagon??Nevermind
I didn't want this thread to become a war.As i said i welcome both sides. But i am unclear about the "rat" and "BS" comment and would like some clarification on that.I'll even take some upclose pictures for ya to show ya its actually bolted on there.

iroc-turbo, get your *** back in here and stand up for yourself. What you did is way cool
Don't let these people who can't think outside the box intimidate you.

I hope you are not insinuating that I am one of your evil cheap-turbo bashing haters. Read what I said earlier in the thread, and please leave me out of your pissing contest, as that is not why I post here. I'll leave that at that.
IROC-Turbo, you can publicly post the details of your setup here if you'd like, I'm sure more than one of us would like to see and hear how it was done.

You get an A+ in effort (who'd of thought you COULD adapt the poncho turbo to the 3rd gen?), determination (it runs, right? how long did that take?) and cost cutting (how much did it set you back? you probably lost the most in weekend time!).
I wouldn't try to build that. I wouldn't touch it. Too much problem solving for me. I did terrible in math!

guido, you give props to followers and frown upon those who step outside what you consider accepted norms.
TBI is a legit way to make street power. just like TPI. just like a carb.
but not in your mind. you automatically dismiss it. what basis do you have? have you looked into tbi much? have you ever considered that it is cheaper/easier to work with the induction your car came with?
i remeber when tpi first came out. it was panned by anyone and everyone who was an "expert" on going fast. funny how times change, now everyone wants port injection because they have learned that it makes power.
just because TBI was not founded as a performance induction system does not mean it isn't capable. it jsut means that it had a longer development route to performance. really it doesn't need much any more. tbi computers are among the most developed and parts are plentiful and inexpensive.
regardless of what knowledge you can bring to any topic guido, it is drastically deminished when you start popping off about things you clearly hate just for the sake of hating them.
real car guys have knowledge and appreciate cars, not just the parts of them they approve of. if you payed as much attention to that as you do to trying to start crap with people for their choice of induction you would have a shot at actually being a good moderator.
BTW, for those of you who don't know/remeber me. i was a mod on this site at one time as well. i ran a stock cam/stock chip 305 car down to 14.20 on a pile of mismatched parts. i have worked on cars that run anywhere from the mid 16's to the mid 8's with many forms of induction.
IROC-Turbo, great job on the car. don't worry about the haters.

something isn't right. I think a ***** snuck in here and he's trying to turn us all against each other. Here's what matters- We all like going fast and we're all doing it anyway we can! here's a shocker for you all- I like chevy AND ford! AND CHRYSLER! When I see someone trying to modfy their car, I'm proud of them, no matter how lame *** his modification is. Better be careful who or what you put down, one day they may blow your doors off using something you said wouldn't work, then you'll have to crawl home with your tail between your legs and hide. I may put peoples attitudes down but I'll never put down someones creativity. I don't have to pi$$ on anyones parade to help me feel good about what I'm doing.

Couldnt he at least have applied the exhaust wrap properly?? I mean, its looks like toilet paper that fell off the roll and was wrapped back on in about two seconds.
I look at stuff like that and question things. If someone cant even apply exhaust wrap properly, how is the rest of the system put together??

And how much did that car weight? 14.20s...that takes what, about 240hp to the wheels in a stock weight car? And that's supposed to be impressive? IMO it just shows how much of a hindrance TBI is.

You trapped 110mph with what's in your sig, that's terrible. Stock Lt1's trap 98-100mph and you've done heads, cam, full exhaust, trans, suspension, tuning and only gained 10-12mph... that's rather weak. I'm trapping 104mph in my TBI powered all GM long block, only thing aftermarket is the intake manifold... stock it was 86mph, I gained 18mph, see why opinions without much research are sometimes better kept to ones self!

I really wish you would have contacted me through PM because we're more alike than you know. I too have fabricated headers for fast race cars but you wouldn't know because I don't brag. Thread
