good enough cheap welder
Whats a cheap welder thats good enough for welding up some turbo headers, exhaust, subframe connectors, maybe some body work?
i'm thinking of going with something from harbor freight. keep in mind im not trying to start a welding hobby, or trying to do this for a living, i'll probably only be using it once, so it's not practical for me to get a miller. the thickest metal i would probably need to weld is 1/4" exhaust flange. tig is too expensive, so i'm thinking more along the lines of mig, arc, or flush core.

I just got one of those Harbor Freight $199 mig/flux core jobbers. I haven't used it yet but the cheapo 140 amp arc stick works great for what it is. You only need a good welder if your going to be welding all day long.

If you are looking for a stick welder let me know, I have a Campbell Hausfelt that i'm willing to get rid of.

I used the mig today, it is freakin sweet. Its totally worth the cash. Its so much easier to use then a stick. Now i can weld less then 1/4" with ease.

I've got a cheap *** stick(arc) welder and it has done everything from sheet metal floor boards, to frame rails. Just take your time and learn it. Now when I do mig welding I get even better welds. but I love my mighty arc welder.
