You'd love this truck I saw at a local car show, LOL
Sorry if its not thirdgen related, but it is related to the wooden interior stuff.....
Anyhow, what kind of wood do you have available? I honestly can't picture a thirdgen with wood interior, though I actually saw one at the same car show (firebird with a wooden cover for the gauges and shifter plate and stuff), probably would have to be on like a black car IMO and be stained like a dark orange sorta color to "go" with the car....

A nice dark cherry burlwood panel would work well with a black gry or red car, depending on the rest of the interior.. You can also get black stained wood.. mostly it depends on the type of wood on whether or not it looks good.. I have been kicking around the same idea for my car for inserts into the the custom fiberglass dash i am having made for it.

what i was thinking...
I have access to cherry very cheap.. (I can get it from work.. hehehe) and I was thinking bout very dark cherry.. the other idea I had was ebony, witch is almost black, with a blood wood stripe running through it , witch is a dark red.. of even cocobolo, witch is a very dark red/ brown...
or even maple with a black lacquer, so you can just see a hint of the grain but it would mostly be a really glossy black..
or you could always go the opposite, and do a tan interior witch is what I have, black car with light tan interior, and put in a maple dash/ panels.. kinds white/black contrast... or you could even use weird color stains over the maple to make it any color.. red/green/blue exe..
and I specialize in doing curved shapes, so I would make it match the existing contours of the dash... I really like the lines it has...
what made me think about it is I just cot a big *** crack down the middle of the dash,, and was looking up the price to buy a new one, they were like 150$... and I was thinking I could make a factory replacement looking one for less than that.. as long and it was a non exotic.. oak, maple, or cherry... then I started thinking bout other parts, like my door handles are old and I could make those out of wood two.. but then I was thinking that might not be safe if you got hit in the side.. chunk of wood jammed into you at 50mph.. but I thank that a dash/consol would not pose as much of a problem... anyway that was what I was thinking... I will probably work on a cherry set for my car pretty soon so I will post pics when I am done... later all...

hmmm
I'm surprised ... didn't expect it to look that good
But problem is ... would maybe not as good with a grey/black interior

Actually with that red it would look just as good with the grey/black as it did with the tan/black if not better.

I could if you really wanted one.. I would be willing to do it for the price of materials just for a pattern... i would need your car for the templates and to it it though, do you live local to me or would you be willing to drive?
could make it out of anything and stain it black, also could make it out of ebony, that is what the use on the blackwood trucks. it is black. let me know.

My car had wood trip in it when i got it.. It was a light wood. looked Like sh**. Pulled it out but now i have holes. I'm thinkin make new ones form alum or carbon fiber. Any ideas?

You could use wood and stain it black but it is hard to get it to look right. Try using black Plexiglas, you can get it like 80% tint and with no light source behind it will look black, or you could use some 1/8 in aluminum, if you sand it with 220, t look a lot l like stainless but you can work it with some simple woodworking tools. Or you could just go get some OE parts from a junkyard, to bring it back to stock. Also if you want the carbon fiber look. Just make it out of plastic, like sheet Plexiglas, and lay a sheet of carbon fiber over it, it is easy to work with and looks like the real stuff... oh and a real wood headliner that looks good would cost a couple hundred to do for a t top, and probably 500 for a hard top. But I am not sure how good it would look. You would need to build a resin and cloth top, and then laminate it with whatever wood you wanted. Also the heat in the car would be murder on a piece that large and thin, and the flexing of the car would crack the finish over time. And the weight would be a lot probably 50 lbs as hi as it can get in the car. Would be much better in my opinion to make a fiberglass, top and cover it with a sheet of carbon fiber, it would probably cost less.
