Valve cover modification

Hey Guys,

ill keep this short ..

Im running Crane Energizer 1.5 roller rockers w/ the center
bolt valve covers, the rockers hit the "Trusses" on the top of valve covers

Do I just take a cut-off wheel to em !!??
I can do just that if thats the trick

I wanted to confirm before something cannot be undone

DIDNT FIT

I cut out the trusses completely inside
the cover.. so its just a shell ..

and my Crane Energizer roller rockers still
hit .. or at least the locking caps for the rockers ..

I am almost certain its just hitting the
locking caps .. and that's bad right???

if any body can clue me in really fast, before I drop $100
on tall deck center-bolt valve covers ..I would appreciate it

If the poly locks are hitting then you need the tall covers.

I don't know how high end you wanna go. I mean you make it sound like money's an issue, since you don't want to "drop $100", but you picked out a high polish chrome, with corvette etchings, gaskets, bolts, etc. You're gonna pay top of the line for that.

If you look on Ebay, you can get a brand new set of chrome valve covers (tall), for $20-40. I have a set on my Chevelle.

Exactly,

I just picked some up that resemble the polished aluminum
ones above .. w/o the corvette flags at a local speed shop..
$106.00 for SBC tall, ball-milled centerbolt valve covers !!

I am very pleased with the quality, and over-all look of the
cover.. they are polished aluminum to match my TPI perfect !!

Im done with ebay, when I started getting
reports from my paypal account saying somebay
tried to buy a car ..

or items never get shipped period .. Id rather save time and
effort than alittle bit of dough

I've been running them for almost a year with no leaks on my chevelle.

You're totally missing the point anyways. If he's willing to drop $100 on valve covers, he's not really pinching pennies, he's got a wide variety of options.

Open a jegs catalog once in a while.

What I meant on "drop $100" on the covers was ..
I coulda put the $100 too good use if the original
valve covers fit ..

like 10 or 15 yards of "blue" new split-loom
for my wiring harness or something else that
will give the car the brand new look
(I like going the extra-mile)

or maybe even another tiny engine upgrade
