I'll stick to my PC gaming thanks.

Reason for the big brick was to keep temps down inside the box itself, as I understand it. Supreme Member

I wouldn't be surprised of fire hazards based on:
1. Previous x-box power supply fiascos
2. The fact that the hot power supply is being attributed to the frequent crashes.
Also, I wouldn't reccomend advertising it online or to your friends since they're fetching a great deal of money online, you're basically asking to get ripped off.

One of my friend's brothers codes for a gaming company and it was explained to me that the XboX360 DK was just total refuse. Apparently, Microsoft pulled...well, a Microsoft...and released a DK to the world which crashed worse & more often than Win95. Due to the fact that a lot of these companies cannot stay in business trying to play it all hard, they were forced to debug MS's product for them for free...oh, and MS told them to forward any changes they had to make to get it working. I just hate MS even more now...
As I understand it, the release version is much more stable because it's been debugged by MS's "free" debug team.

Well I don't like putting stuff like this in cars, but thats cool that you did. i am sure "pimp my ride" will start tossing them into cars soon. Get pics of it running. That I wanna see.
As for all the power supply issues from the origional xbox to the new 360.... I got xbox the day it came out and have taken it to to friends houses and 3 differnt countires that I have lived in or visited over the last few years. Needless to say it has got beat on a bit and I play it constantly. With all this abuse I have never, ever had a power supply issue. Neither has anyone I know personaly. (all my best friends play xbox) I was offered a new power cord and said i do not need it and turned it down. I think people with defective stuff, 90% of the time it is the people doing something wrong being idiots.
360 kicks ***. MS is not the best company but you can't deny the success of windows in general. Stuff works, end of story
of course thats just IMHO

How the hell can you get by skipping. Our cars are not necessarelly the "smoothest" riding cars out there!
One or two bumps and you will be pissed.
Also, think about it. You put that console in and your firends will end up playing it while you drive. Than it turns out you bought it for your friends.
Than you would want to play it, but you wont let anyone else driver your car. SO you get in an accident while playing.
Now you dont have your car, and you 360 is messed up.
I did this with an N64 ln my car and it worked great.
I had it under the driver side rear set coushin. I took out all the padding, put down few firm pads on the floor. I put the 64 on top of it and left it on. Put the cushion back and Hooked it all up to a TV/inverter that I had. Than whenever I turn the TV on the 64 would come on and I can play games!
It was fun, but my firends ended up playing 64 wile I drove and I got pissed! Its a good thing I only spent 15bucks all toghether on the 64 and Wrestlemanina 2000!
SOmething to think about.
I took that carp out in two days after installation and sold it on e-bay.
Never again.
Now I roll with a PSP and play it whenver I want, and it does not drain my battery.
Laters.

I dunno about putting in an xbox, I have a hard enough time trying to find female passengers- would the xbox increase my chances of that other form of in-car entertainment?!
For serious , I'd like to see some installed pic's of this xbox, how it looks, where you mounted it, what kinda moniter are you using, etc.
edit- I thought this was the fabrication forum- call this early winter-time boredom, I wanna see some sawzall'd roofs and duct tape mods not some xbox install!

how was this thread not closed? unless you fabricated your own x-box from scratch, IM your friends to brag about your purchase. This board is getting cluttered
Yup this is kind of retarded in this forum, but as long as we're talking about Xbox I gotta say the original (not the 360) is probably the best console to install in a car because of the ability to mod chip it, upgrade the components, and run different software. Forget playing games, you could hook it up to your ECM to datalog in real time and display output on a flip out LCD screen (those ones people use to watch movies). That ability right there is well worth the sub $100 price for an Original Xbox, put about $100 more into it and you'll be able to do all sorts of crazy things (which also includes storing MP3's on the hard drive and Aux into your Deck to play them, no skipping there)
