Re: Targa top fabrication
Once I'm finished with my heat extractor hood I will be doing the targa top mod on my car. It can be done using the original T-tops. I have already figured out how to do it and keep the tops in two pieces so they can still be stored easily....now I just have to find the time.

Re: Targa top fabrication
Just giving this some thought after reading everything and remembering the pics we all knew of TPI383's car...
If the verts didn't have any extra body structure ('factory' subframe connectors), then why would the Targa Top be too flexible?? The only real problem I can see is unless you had SFCs (and good ones, or multiples) the front end of the car at the windshield could flex away from the back of the car (at the back of the "targa" area) and cause some stress on the tops; That is, if you hit the right bump or something.
With the right SFCs, I don't know how bad everything would shift around, if at all.
Making the top I can't see being that hard, especially if you use the factory T-Top latches and just make a fiberglass panel.
I do loathe that stupid T-Top bar console with the stupid cigarette holder thing right in my line of sight everytime I look right.

Re: Targa top fabrication
Ever waved like a nut when ya saw another 3rd gen or had one wave at you?
Course not, its always like two gunslingers giving that stare
But now on my motorcycle, its a brother hood n all but the 1% club go out of their way to wave n I do the same. We as in biker often go out of our way to talk to strangers on anything with 2-3 wheels.
After I cut my fuel pump access door, they all said the car was gonna fall apart, its like spaghetti back there, then when I installed the rear STB I was told it was stupid as its so strong back there?
Though id run both Alston and BMR's together and welded in.
