I run the chevy celebrity lights, they're the proper size.

greeting fellow fabricators...

does this mod improve lighting or is it purely cosmetic?
what type of brackets are required to install them?

They have a little bit wider light pattern and was an improvement for me. Also, you have the advantage of just replacing the bulb and not the whole sealed beam. The brackets I made myself, just 3 of them per light. 2 for the top mounting studs and one for the bolt in the center of the housing, fairly easy to do. Probably could have done a better job with the upper brackets.

I did an H4 headlight conversion on my 89. Im very happy with the difference in headlights. They are not just a bolt in tho, it took over an hour to moddify the metal bracket the lights sit in to allow for the deeper case of the H4 headlights. Mine look a little off in this pic, they just need adjusted alittle. Good luck with whatever meathod you choose.

I've heard of alot of people having to modify their light buckets. I didn't have to at all just popped in,in the same place the stock ones did. No movement.

Celebrity headlights

These Celebrity headlights, would the housings be able to handle xenon light bulbs, or later on HID conversions, with the ballasters, bulbs etc ?

i checked the offset of the truck lights and the one s on the camaro and they are the same. 4" on the outside and 6" on the inside. by the measurements i took you should be able to unbolt and rebolt (with new holes of course) the truck lenses in with out much modifying.

After a quick search on google, it looks like it. The bulb type is 9005 and 9006, found a HID kit for 498.

So one would have to use TWO sets of ballaster setups, one for low beams, one for high beams ?

The Celebrity lights, are they the same size ? And are they perfectly rectangular ? On some sites on the net it looks like they're slightly angled at one corner.

Yup, I guess 2 sets. The lights are rectangular but sit in the bucket at an angle as you can see from the top down shot. That angle is the same as the stock ones if you were to draw a line from one side to the other.

your not going to want to run HID's in your high beams.... the ballasts arent designed to be turned on and off rapidly or multiple times and doing so will greatly shorten the life....you can find kits for around the 250-280$ mark these days.... a couple sites off the top of my head are Neon Lights at Oznium.com - underbody kits, LEDs, cathodes and www.hid-sin.com.... i suggest doing a full out HID projector retro fit... because those housings werent designed for HID bulbs and will probably cause alot of glare and possibly blind oncoming traffic...

Mine's going to be a bit more tricky. Putting '04 Ford Focus lights to replace my existing (boring) HLs. This is on an '86 T/A though, and I want to keep the flip up - so not as easy as it sounds. Already measured, and they will fit, with some minor fab work, so they should look great. My other option was a Honda, but it looked too ***** to me.

Let me know what you think - I will post pics when finished.

Maybe you could Run one of those H.I.D Bi xenon Kits which includes both high and low beams. I have one installed (in a car other then my camaro) and it worked great. Maybe that would work.

good luck, if i were you i would just buy the headlight lenses for hid bulbs and get the hid bulbs for them, shouldn't need any fabwork. something like this...

Did you have to change the wiering, and if you did was it hard.

This is what I was going suggest. I used teh celebrity head lights on my 1st gen Sunbird (non-GT) front end, I noticed they were about 3/8" narrower than the two sealed beam units were, but no one would ever notice.

Re: head light conversion

AJ89rocz - I like the H4 setup on your camaro; can you pm me with some info on how you did it; I am wanting replace both low and high beams but I am not going to replace them until I have the donor lights so I can still drive the car at night. I do have one question; When after the conversion and when you installed them was there any fabrication that needed to be down to the housing area? I read that you may not have but just curious.

Thanks guys for giving me a better idea on lighting. The 97 camaro I had (v6 model) had poor headlights and I love the headlights on my fiance's 06 cobalt; the bulbs look like the ones on my fiance's cobalt. I have pics of it.

Great job guys on the headlight conversions !!!!!

That looks pretty damn cool. That would definately be a cheap way to improve my lighting.

I only bump this thread to see if anyone else has done this mod? Pictures and or a DIY how-to article would rock right about now. I'd love to see the Silverado lights on the Camaro as well as more Celebrity light pics.

Re: head light conversion

thanks 85maro, but i wa looking for someone who had done the single light out of a fulsize truck, like year ones ban 3 ....they dont have any info on the swap, it is a very sharp look.... yes the h4 look like 85maro is ok, and there is nothing wrong with that, but i want something just a touch off the beaten path. as far as i can tell the problems would come with the adjustment "stalks" on the new housings, here is what i would like to put in http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/88-98...spagenameZWDVW

or this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/88-98...spagenameZWDVW

both of these would look great, the first with hid, that is what i want to do ... but dose anyone know how it would need to be molested into the rad support inplace of the factory light bucket. thanks

bill

Those look interesting. I still want to see someone post some better pics and a how-to on the Celebrity headlight swap. Or even the Silverado or Monte Carlo swap.

I'll get some crystal clears with H4 bulbs for now, but I want the Celebrity or Silverado headlights.

That looks pretty sweet actually. Just wish I knew what headlights those are.

My question is which Silverado/Blazer headlights will fit?

I was thinking about these:

Re: head light conversion

For grins while I was at a salvage yard on Saturday I measured the Beretta lights an they are just barely too large. So that leaves me with the same question as above. What year/type silverado/blazer lights can fit?

Nevermind what I said about Beretta lights. They'll fit. It's just going to take a bit of fabbing. I started the driver's side and I need more brackets. My MAIN concern is since I removed the header panel how the hell am I going to fix the alignment of the front nose bumper. Not having the header panel in has made it sag a bit as you can see in the second pic.

Don't remove it completely, get a second one to cut up or just cut your original. All you need to do is lop off the ends where the headlights mounted and leave the center part that bolts to the core support and bumper cover.

That's some good info! Thanks. Do you have any additional pics? I'm going to try and do this again next month or later this month when I have the $$$ to order another header panel. Mine's cracked in a couple of places anyway.

You wouldn't happen to have pics of how those lights look with your hood down and standing in front of the car do you? I may sell off these Beretta lights if I can find some Celebrity lights.
