Floor pan replacement

I need to replace the left floor pan (and maybe the right) on my '89 RS. I am looking for help on who has a good fitting pan, and any tips that will help it go well. We plan to install SFC's and the Jegs torque arm next. If you have done this, I would like to hear from you, and who had the best part at the best price.....

Billy

try classic industries for the floor pans. just remember to install the torque arm while you have the carpet out

be sure to suport the car well and use lots of braces so that the car does not twist or bend with that much of the suports out.

my pans came from classic industries. they fit good but still it takes lots of fitting and trimming. there are a few pics from when i did mine

Guys,
Thanks for all of the info. Trigger GTA, I am afraid that is what my floor would look like if I cut until I was happy with it. After looking around, sizing up the project, I think I am going to fab the pieces I need, coat the rest with POR-15. Between the SFC's and the 6 point cage, I think the tub should be strong enough. I had to cut the floor from the rocker panel to the tunnel under the pedals, then along the rocker and tunnel to the first seat support rib. The rest of the pans are still there, but rusty. Maybe next year we will tub the car, and build a full cage, but I want to drive the car(since my last muscle car was sold in '88) for awhile before taking on a full pan replacement. Thanks again for all of the info....

Ive seen some horrifc floor pan jobs. One on a 1992 firebird V8. They had actually used self tapping screws and the drivers side floor pan was about an inch away from the unibody support not to mention they used extremely thin metal. The car has been for sale on the lot going in two years!
