Seems ike a missappropriation of already imited financial resources. A waste. Neat, but still a waste of money.

that is nice! glad to see someone is using there limited finacial resources to bring new products to the thirdgen market. there was a post a while back that had a blue car with a sick cage in it that had a carbon reverse cowl hood on it look sick as hell. wonder how much that hood weighs? bet its less than the fiberglass ones.

I remember the first posts w/ this hood... There was a lot of interest and even talk of a group purchase. I think the hood looks friggin' awesome as-is personally.

Doesn't vfn fiberglass make carbon fiber/custom parts? I'd think that would be the best route to follow rather than paying 500.00 shipping and dealing with a company halfway around the world...

If you REALLY wanted the carbon fiber look, and couldn't afford the carbon fiber price tag, you could always get carbon fiber patterned vinyl, and do a hood wrap.

I like it and just imagine how much weight you could save our stock hoods weigh so much

why hasnt anyone manufactured an iroc fiberglass or CF hood yet? I have always liked the look of the stock iroc hood, and a lighter one would be awesome.

Well, if you don't like CF, then paint it and call it "composite". If you guys "just don't like" CF, then you may be uninformed about it's wonderful strength to weight ratio.

There is no doubt about the weight savings over steel.

However, I think it is cost-prohibitive for the minimal savings over the glass. Would you shell out 200-300 EXTRA for only 5 lbs or so of weight savings?

i got a fiberglass hood, and it does way a ton less than the stock one! however it is not that much more heavier than the CF in the picture! i mean it looks nice! but the cost compared to a fiberglass one is just way too much for a cf one for only a couple pounds difference!

I just wish somebody made a stock GTA hood, but in fiberglass. Maybe with the center section, between the stock creases, with about a 1" to 2" bulge, nothing real big.

Ill always go with fiberglass over CF, unless I just simply had the money to blow. Then why not...

I want one all of the companies build cowl hoods, and other hoods, but for some reson they never make fiberglass, or carbon fiber versions of stock hoods why? They would make a killing especially with us third geners stock hoods on our cars just weigh to much

VFN makes RS style flat hoods.... want a powerbuldge hood? they make fiberglass buldges you can bolt on.

they make them in fiberglass and in carbon fiber.... but the CF ones are actual LIGHTWEIGHT parts... for race cars... not for looks.... therefore.. you'll need to paint them..

and since most of you want it for the look, even though you wont admit it, none of you will shell out the couple hundred more for what will look like a stock hood anyway..

I'll hafta find out what difference is between these from VFN...

"82-92 Stock flat Bolt On Hood. Price=360.00 Weight=18 Ship: Truck Freight.

82-92 Formula Pin On Hood. Price=275.00 Weight=12 Ship: Truck Freight. "

I need a hood anyways for my 87 GTA.

I spray bomb primered my car last summer and put a bunch of swirlies in it with wetsand paper. I was hanging out with a friend in a parking lot with a lot of subarus, neons, etc... I had the hood up showing my engine to another 3rd gen guy and I heard someone looking at my car say to his friend "Yo duDe, his WHOLE CAR is carbon fiber man!!" I walked away and started to laugh histarically with my friend.

Many of the poeple who consider only looks don't know any better anyway. So CF laminate might be a really "neat" idea.

It's my understanding that to bolt to the stock hinges and operate like the stock hood, there needs to be more material so it can support itself when in the raised position.

A pin-on is designed to be lifted completly off the car when removed, not supported by the corners and held at a 45* angle.

More material=more money=more weight

SCCA TA

If I fabbed my own, I'd follow the two stock creases in the hood, raise the back by 2", and leave the front section at the stock height, creating a Jongloed style hood for my 87 GTA.

Or a 4th gen style Mecham hood.

Cool! I found this rear wing at the Mecham site that is now available!

Carbon fiber hood here in America, with indentations for louvers, or blisters.

There is a guy in Toronto selling a cf hood with indents for the IZOC louvers. He wants around $ 800 US. I think he has a thread in the clasified section.

Hmm interesting idea, but I would rather have fiberglass then pay the price for a CF. Plus CF doesn't look that great in my opinion
