Running braided line off master cylinder, need fitting sizes...
Running braided line off master cylinder, need fitting sizes...
Ok not sure exactly where this should go, but you guys mite have the answer.
I'm trying to clean up the bay before the engine goes in. I'm going to be running braided lines off the master cylinder and relocating the prop valve. Well I need to convert the master over to AN. What I want to do is either go with a banjo fitting right off the master or else use a male to male convertor and run a standard AN style. Obviously the stock male fitting on one end and an AN male on the other side. Earls has the fittings, but I just need to know what size the female master cylinder connectors are. They are 2 different sizes. The master is out of an 87.
Thanks!

Don't think replacing the hard line off master cyl would
be a good idea because of flex whip, spongy pedal
Don't know how far your going to go with it but would have to be clamped securely along the way.
At suspension,(wheels) need to because of travel.

Its only going to be a foot long from the master to the fender well to a bulkhead. Then its going back to hard line inside the fender well. Just trying to get a cleaner line in the engine bay as well as make servicing easier w/o risking damage to the parts.
Re: Running braided line off master cylinder, need fitting sizes...
The finalized plan is to run a double male off the master. Master cylinder end: flare and other end: -3AN to. Then have a -3AN 90 degree coupler. Then to Earls line: EAR-63010112erl (summit) Earls brake line, speed-flex, Braided Stainless Steel Hose, Female -3AN to Female -3AN, 12in long.

bump, since I wanna sknow the answer to this too. I hate having all those lines there. I tried hard to clean up the engine bay, but it is tough. I got all the wiring hidden, pretty much, I also got rid of the heat, and AC. Also the washer fluid and the overflow has been relocated. I just am hoping to get my brake lines figured out before I do the C5 brake swap.

I have the adapter fittings for a 85 drum master right here in front of me, they are the ones I used to convert to a adjustable prop valve and line lock last summer. I can get pictures if needed but the front one I used and have avaliable if anyone needs it, actually I have a few, it`s a male inverted 12mmx1.0 to a female inverted 3/8 24 (standard 3/16 parts store line) I also used a earls 3/8 24 male to -3an into this fitting to convert to flex line. The other fitting in the rear port is got to be a 11mm x 1.5 or 1.25 male inverted flare to a 3/8 24 female inverted , again standard 3/16 steel line will fit into it.

Wow, sounds like you know what you are talking about. I wish I wasn't such a newie when it comes to brake line fittings. I get intimidated with all the numbers that seem so close to eachother, haha. I would like to ask part #s but that is kinda a pain for anyone to look up who doesn't need the parts. Do you know of a good place to buy all theses parts? Summit, Jegs....

okay, dug up the #`s for the fittings, these fit the 85 drum cylinders, and I know they`ll fit the LS1 master too. all the others may or may not be the same, I only have experience with the two.
ADAPTER STANDARD TO METRIC BUBBLE
Rear Port-
Female Inverted Flare Seat 3/16" (3/8-24 thread) -> Male Bubble Flare 11-1.5MM.... Edelmann #264000, Everco #3030, Weatherhead #7973
Front Port-
Female Inverted Flare Seat 3/16" (3/8-24 thread) -> Male Bubble Flare 12-1.0MM.... Edelmann #265000, Everco #3014, Weatherhead #7974
-3AN TO 3/8 inch -24 I.F EARLS# 581531ERL
Interesting, I could find 12mmx1.0 male to -3an male fittings but no 11x1.5mm in the same config.

Re: Running braided line off master cylinder, need fitting sizes...
Thanks for putting in the work. I am still a little confused about what I wanna specifically do, but that is my problem. I have a 91 with a new MC for stock 4 disk brake. This thread will help a lot, thanks.
Re: Running braided line off master cylinder, need fitting sizes...

the rear is 12mm.1.0 bubble flare if it is a 85 plus car, the two front ports are 10mmx1.0 bubble flare.
pre 85 cars can be std fittings, in that case 7/16 20 inverted for the rear line and 3/8 24 inverted for the front ports.
