TPI Fuel line

Converting 1975 Chevy truck to TPI...I tried to fabricate a fuel line using 3/8" inverted flare from Kragen and WeatherHead 1446 fitting(Saginaw->inverted flare) I could not get a good seal between the 3/8 fitting...I tried to tighten it as much I can still leaks. I even converted it using barb connector between WE1446(saginaw->inverted flare) fitting and the barb fitting still leaks between the barb. No matter what I hooked up WE1446(saginaw->inverted flare) fitting still leaks. Any alternative what I need to use?

Re: TPI Fuel line

are u using stock TPI hard lines that run from the fuel rail to the front of the engine? accel sells adapter fittings from the metric to -6an... then get a -6an to barb and run rubber to the hard lines or just use -6an braided and connect to the hard line

I used the accel TPI fuel jumpers lines from Arizona TPI on my 82 corvette. They come straight and you bend them to you application.

Worked great for me

I'm not sure what you mean by "barbed". It's completely straight on the other end. I slipped a piece of fuel hose about 4" over the arizona TPI line and secured it with two clamps on each line.

Then I ran the other ends to the lines on the frame rails and secured them with clamps. There is about 12" - 15" of rubber fuel hose on each line going to the frame lines.

Re: TPI Fuel line

this is a barb fitting

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

it is used to connect rubber lines more securly and promotes better sealing and grabbing of the hose. with use of one hose clamp. this is far better than using a smooth peice of line with 2 clamps... the barb has the ridges to grab the inside of the hose. not saying 2 clamps dont work on smooth line. a hard line adapter to a hose barb fitting will securely seal the rubber line for the best posible connection.

and you would need about a ft of rubber line betweent he engine fuel hard line and the body due to engine flex and to absorb vibration.

Re: TPI Fuel line

The fittings you need are Saginaw ends. Here are the Dormans part numbers available on the web (use google) and at http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...goryCode=3120B. They are $12.88 each.

800151
800153

One is 5/16" x x18" and the other is 3/8" x 18". Use a flared end on the non-Saginaw end along with SAE 30R9 (EFI hose) and EFI clamps like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/30-FU...spagenameZWDVW
Ideal 52F16 and 52F15.

Are those the Vette fuel lines your using for the injector rails? if so what year did you get them off of. Im trying to clean mine up, when I did the initial install using the 89 F-body set up I made my own fuel lines from front to back using 3/8 and 5/16 brake lines, some pretty ugly bends that I know are restricting fuel flow so Im trying to get it cleaned up and use the stock monte carlo fuel lines.

Also what type of rubber lines are you using? if I can hose clamp it on the orriginal fuel lines that would save me a whole lot of hassles.

TIA

Re: TPI Fuel line

Yes they are vette fuel rails, I'm thinking they were off a 86 model.

I'm using 3/8" and 5/16" fuel injection rated fuel hose I purchased from O'Reilly auto parts. I'm clamped to the original metal lines on the passenger frame rail.....worked out great for me.

Re: TPI Fuel line

SWEEEET! thats good news, how long have you had your set up? and how did you mount the fuel filter? Sorry for the Q's but looking for other ideas. Ill have to figure a different place for the filter Im sure.

Now to look for those fuel rails, I guess the 9th injector wasnt installed on those vettes? thought they were still on there at that time but apparently not.

Re: TPI Fuel line

I had my set-up for about a year..

Since my car was originally crossfire, my filter is mounted along the frame rail sandwiched between the metal feed line.

Yes they had the 9th injectors, since my car was swapped to Speed density I bought a injector block off kit for my fuel rail....I got it from Street and Performance in Mena, AR
