Any of you guys converted a third gen to a power steering rack!I know the fourth gen uses a rack and the floorpans similar,is this possible(I know everything is,but looking for relative ease) or have other racks been mated to our trusty F bodies?My bro is a fabricator so brackets etc no issue,but rigging pumps and belts look tricky.Fed up with balljoints!Thanks.

 

Ummmm...

Take off steering box. Fab up mounts for rack, hook existing pump lines to rack, then modify the steering shaft to get down to the rack.

Thats how I understand its done.

 

Thanks for your reply,I should have searched first as have found an already existing thread regarding this subject(i'll look next time).Seems a little bit like a can of worms as i thought it might.

 

I have a friend that took the steering box off and put rack and pinion. He said that if he would of known how much trouble it was he wouldn't of done it.
