Custom fuel rails for Mini Ram?
Has anyone ever made custom fuel rails for the Mini Ram? I would like to plumb some -8AN fittings to the front and back of the fuel rails and ditch the crossover pipe near the distributor. I'm in the process of building a b@lls out fuel system and would like to get some ideas/pics. Thanks guys.

Re: Custom fuel rails for Mini Ram?
IMO you have two choices here. One; you could take those fuel rails and modify them if you can weld, or take them to a machine shop and have them modified. As long as you are at it think about having the ID of the log opened some. You would have to buy some -AN weld fittings from Earls or something and have the stock regulator and crossover lines closed up then have the -AN weld on adapters welded on the rear of the log. Two; You could just find a company that makes custom fuel rails, I have seen extruded fuel rail for sale before so it should not be that hard to find a plce to do it. You would have to either send your rails for them to measure and remake new ones or you would have to give them all the dimensions they need to do it.
I just left them how they are basically except I made braided stainless supply and return lines to the tank all the way to the rear of the car.

You have great timing.
About 6 months ago I had Myron Cottrell of TPIS build custom Mini Ram fuel rails for me. I told him I wanted the, "ULTIMATE MINI RAM FUEL RAIL SETUP."
Although I don't have a picture of it here, (It is with my car in storage) I will describe it to you.
They drilled out the entire length of both of the fuel rails so there would be no fuel restriction. They plumed the front of each rail with it's own inlet which use Large AN fittings (I don't remember if it was -6 or -8.)( I'm not familiar with which one is which)
Then the lines go down and under the Mini Ram itself to an AN "Y" connector, At that point the two smaller braided lines become a BIG braided line. Then that single big line goes toward the rear of the engine. That is where you would attach your massive fuel supply line.
Then at the rear of each of the fuel rails you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. (2 regulators) the crossover tube is still in place. The reason for 2 regulators is so you can have 2 fuel return fittings. The crossover is retained so that the fuel pressure in the 2 rails would always remain balanced.
This is a one of a kind fuel rail, designed by Myron himself, Who said it would supply fuel for over 1,000 Horsepower. As it ends up, I most likely won't use it on this car. If one of you is interested in having it I'll make you a good deal.
Since I don't check this site very often please call me about it, since it may be a while before I'm on the board again.

Do you have any pictures of that fuel rail? I'll be giving you a ring. Thanks!
Re: Custom fuel rails for Mini Ram?
Here are some pictures of the Custom MiniRam that TPIS made for me.
It uses 2 fuel pressure regulators. (One on each fuel rail)
Since I have the second regulator on my original fuel rail, The picture only shows the 1 regulator.
Both fuel rails were reamed out and are more than double the inside diameter of the original rails. Now fuel only flows in 1 direction. (From the front of the rails to the rear)
The crossover tube now just helps to Balance the fuel pressure, instead of having to feed the entire flow of fuel to the other rail.

Re: Custom fuel rails for Mini Ram?
What was the damage for that piece? Very nice. I am looking to do something very similar. I have a high-revving 406 with miniram and am running out of fuel above 6500.
Any info appreciated.

Re: Custom fuel rails for Mini Ram?
I was able to fabricate my own using -8AN fittings. I hogged out and tapped the fuel rails.

Mine has never been used. I paid just under $ 700. to have TPIS build it.
If you want it, you can have it for $300., including shipping within the US.

Re: Custom fuel rails for Mini Ram?
I hate to say it but TPIS setup is somewhat a waste of time and effort that looks mostly like it was done to make the parts that they had around work.
I guess I can see boring out the fuel rails since they have room and already fit the manifold, if it wasn’t for that its easy enough to buy decent size fuel rails by the foot ( like has already been said, you can buy fuel rail stock from various FI companies, machine shops and even order parts from Holley or MSD), but the 2 fuel pressure regulators is just an unnecessary complication and PITA.
There’s plenty of fuel pressure regulators that will do the job as a single and they aren’t super $$$, for example, aeromotive, sx, Paxton… all have made them in the mid/high $1xx range, and less popular, Mallory and a few other less popular choices will do it for under $100. The fact is that even with the dual setup you’re just going to get whatever fuel pressure the regulator set at the lower pressure is set at.
And this is all only an issue if you’re running one large pump that can feed that 1000hp or so. If you’re running something like 2 x 255lph intank pumps staged so the second one only comes on with boost or at WOT or something then even a stock size regulator can be made to work.
