I really want to take the t-tops off but.....
The interrior headliner is completely shot!!! The years of leaking every so often has completely rotted the molding and fabric!!!!!! Any ideas on where I can find a new headliner, WITHOUT SENDING ME TO THE POOR HOUSE?
Re: I really want to take the t-tops off but.....
If the fiberglass backing is still intact just recover it yourself
Plenty of info in searches for this
Option 2 is the ABS plastic aftermarkets
They leave some to be desired on fit and are decently priced for what they are

fiberglass? backing, do you mean fiberboard, or do you just have a unique thirdgen...
as for what to do about your headliner.. i yanked mine off.. it doesn't look that bad to me.. and the breeze you get on 100 degree day's outweighs the look factor.. but the abs plastic one's are your only other option really.. from all i've read about them, doesn't really matter where you get them cause ther'es only 1 or 2 places making them.. just look for the cheapest price..

Mine looks like crap too. I was thinking of brushing some fiberglass resin on mine to harden it and then paint it. Would this work? Maybe I should lay some fiberglass and resin on there to make more of a shell? It's be cool to have a paintable surface up there.

I had this same idea. What I'm worried about is getting it installed once it's hardened. It's a tight fit and from what I remember, you may have to flex it a good bit during installation.

good call. I think I'll try i soon. Mine will be black metallic with PONTIAC on the upper headliner area where it's visable with the tops off.

Re: I really want to take the t-tops off but.....
I covered my stock headliner with resin and hardener and reinforced it with fiberglass cloth. Haven't reinstalled it yet. I found a place on the net that sells headliner material. I'm waiting for color samples to match the rest of the interior. Mine was in pieces when I started.

I use common felt
It stretches to fit the curves of those especially difficult T-top headliners
The visors and sail panels are cake
Once all 3 are done noone will ever know its not stock

You can recover a t-top headliner with headliner material. it just takes a lot of patience. Here is a link to a write-up I did for mine:

I have been looking around but I can't find a place that sells just the headliner material. Do you know where to get it?

any fabric store should carry it and know it by the name "headliner material". Around here, Joann Fabric carrys it in many colors and you can usually special order additional colors. It's basically felt with a 1/8" foam backing.

Oh really? I never thought to look there. Thanks! Is there a special glue or anything I need to get?

in my link above, I mentioned Permatex Heavy Duty Headliner and Carpet Trim Adhesive. It worked better for me than the 3M brand did. I got a can of it at Autozone.

Cool thanks. I just bought my car about a month ago. The guy was the first owner so I consider my self pretty lucky. But the headliner was gone. I have no idea why because mines a hardtop so it wouldn't see any water. But stuff keeps coming off and getting on the interior stuff so it gets annoying.

nothing more true has ever been spoken. i tried using 3 different types of 3m cause i figured it was quality (i work at a stereo shop so they were lieing around) before i motored down to autozone and bought the Permatex.

Whatever you do don't get the ABS headliners you see at various places online. I would say they fit like complete ****, but that would be a lie, because they actually don't fit at all. I had to completely destroy mine to get it in.
