Trunk Latch

I don't want to buy a $700 replacement electric trunk latch from the dealership, and I have checked the local auto wrecking yards. So I need to figure out how to make one. But when I make a new latch I want it to still open with the button in the console but I want a fixed latch...

Re: Trunk Latch

I had the mech go out as well but rather then fix it i took a DSM rear latch manual type and the cable with relese lever. I made a bracket to adjust the latch mech. ran the cable under the carpet mounted the handel next to the seat and rivited it down. Took about 1 hour and works great.
