Accelerator Pedal
Accelerator Pedal
I searched but wasn't able to really find anything. The previous owner of my 84 L69 cut off the accelerator pedal. I have NO idea why. All that's left is the cylindrical rod in the driver's compartment. I hooked up the linkage last night, so it's "driveable", but it'd be nice to have an actual pedal. With no access to a welder, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?? Thanks.

Re: Accelerator Pedal
no other method is worth your time! The pedal assembly is mounted to the firewall with 2 bolts. Then the throttle cable has a ball at the end that sits in a recess in the pedal assembly... you just pull it outward and slide it through the slot to detach it. It's incredibly easy to replace your damaged pedal and I don't believe there were any functional changes to the pedal assembly from 82-92, so any 3rd gen in a junkyard will have what you need. Find anyone parting out a car in the classifieds section and you should be able to score the part you need for $10 or less.

Re: Accelerator Pedal
The plastic petal part might have fell off the rod . the pin brakes and it just leaves a rod

Re: Accelerator Pedal
Is there a hole through the end of the rod? If so, then it's just the plastic pedal that's come off. My car was like this when I got it. Took about 10 minutes to fix, most of which was trying to get the little spring and pin in place.
