Diamond Plated Dash Pad

I was wondering if it could be done. Replacing just the pad with some fabricated diamond plate. I have never worked with it so idk how hard it would be to form the metal. I don't want to do the entire dash, just the top where the dash pad is. I think it would give at a mean look if looking in from the windshield.

What you guys think

Re: Diamond Plated Dash Pad

I thought about doing that as well, but still ahve a few other options im thinking over. Also thought rhino lined d-plate would look good, but i think you should go for it will look great IMO

Re: Diamond Plated Dash Pad

You can buy diamond plate decal material and give it the look without the fabrication required. I've seen the decals at Walmart.

Re: Diamond Plated Dash Pad

I can't imagine the shine you'd get off of a diamond plate dash board!

If it was powdered black or rhino lined, that wouldn't be so bad. But I wouldn't just cover a stock dash board. The weight of a stock dash pad is heavy enough already, no sense in adding a metal plate on top of that.

UP22 sells a lightweight dash pad though, that you could use.

Re: Diamond Plated Dash Pad

But maybe aluminum wouldn't be too heavy, but still powdercoated.

Re: Diamond Plated Dash Pad

Like mentioned ...

1) The light reflection off diamond plate (or anything shiny) is going to kill your eyes, your going to drift over the line when blinded, and kill me in the process - then I'm going to have to torment you in hell forever

2) The crash that kills me is going to kill you - that diamond plate (or any metal) is going to shear your fool head off! You'll know who I am when we get to hell - I'll be the one with two heads, the one on my shoulders, and the one I'm carrying by the hair - yours!

My opinion ...
Why does anyone want to put diamond plate anywhere on a car? It's a truck thing - diamond plate the hell out of a truck all day long - it "fits". Diamond plate anything just looks like junk on a car - any car - especially a car with as nice of lines as a 3rd gen.

Modding for the sake of restoration and adding technology previous not available for beautification or creature comfort I'm all for. Modding for the sake of modding - just to have modded something, is a waste of time, energy, money, and talent.

"Mod" is short for "modernization" - there's nothing "modern" about diamond plate on any car. Don't flame me for this opinion - I'm not trying to call you stupid or anything. I'm just suggesting that you utilize your time, energy, money, talent on more vehicle appropriate things.

I get caught up myself - alot. I have a different idea daily of things to do - after 10 minutes of thought, I toss 90% of them aside, as I realize these ideas stem from having so much fun and enjoyment "doing things to my car", that I want to do more, and more, and more. But I come to my senses, and realize I need to chill, save some cash, and buy another vehicle to throw some of these hair-brained schemes of mine at.

Hope you understand where I'm coming from, and that I'm offering constructive criticism rather than trying to flame you.

Re: Diamond Plated Dash Pad

Wow, boo to this idea. You are really giving third gen haters more ammo for the typical insults. Sorry, I usually dont say this but I think its sounds trashy...and rhino lining? Seriously? Its the interior not the underside of your vehicle or the bed of a truck.

I do believe in doing what you want with your vehicle, just dont expect people to oooo and ahh over this "mod"
