LS 2" Headers

I sold my 1 7/8" headers I built last year to step up to a 2" primary and a true merge collector. Here's a few progress pics.

very nice!

as a fellow header builder i can appreciate what it takes to do a one-off set like that. I've never used 2" primaries though, only 1 5/8" or 1 1/2". Your welds look MUCH better than mine too.. haha

Re: LS 2" Headers

Anything can be done for a price. The 2" tube is very tight due to the large bend radius. Thinking about working on another set of 1 7/8" swap headers later though. Always do things better the second time around.

Re: LS 2" Headers

what's the motor combo since that mockup engine is stock headed Supercharger? fogger? I want to know. Was planning on building some 1 7/8" maybe I need to rethink that for stepped headers. hmmm.

Re: LS 2" Headers

Very nice car Coulter I heard there was a Badass red thirdgen lsx swap running around the BG area. I was in the pits at Memphis for the LSX shootout look over to see your car never seen it run but it was kind of a cluster there so I didnt get to see a lot of stuff run. Any way Nice clean car and headers.

Re: LS 2" Headers

Excellent progress. That header is gorgeous

Did you run the primaries through pipemax or similar flow program, or just decide on a size and 'make-it-fit'

I just built them to fit the car. They have around a 29" average primary length.

Re: LS 2" Headers

NICE work man! Im slightly jealous of those suckers! I would never need 2" primaries, but I sure would like to do a custom set of headers one of these days. I have no clue how to wrap my head around the welding though. Especially where the pipes go into the collector. I know there are methods...but seems like it'd be a royal pain to get it sealed 100%.

Awesome looking headers and nice clean welds!

Very nice!! How much ground clearance do you think your going to have? I would love to do true duals, but I set pretty low.

Re: LS 2" Headers

Those headers and that exhaust are top notch. Is the torque arm going to have any clearance issues with the X pipe though? Also what trans mount are you using?

Re: LS 2" Headers

Holy.... Um... That is....

Forget it... MORE PICS!!! It looks fantastic from the underside. I too am curious about the ground clearance. Thats EXACTLY what I plan to do when I re-do my exhaust. Im planning on channeling my floorboards to pass the pipes under, since there's room to do that back there.

Im anxiously waiting for more pics..AND SOUND CLIPS! Great work!

Re: LS 2" Headers

Those are absolutely perfect looking. A true work of art.

I attempted to redo one primary on my headers to clear a spark plug. Lets just say mine turned out fairly ugly. I have massive respect for someone like you who can do that. I hope one day I can.

Do you have any pics showing the clearance between the exhaust and the ground?

Re: LS 2" Headers

Once I get the real engine back in I'll get some ground clearance pictures. It looks to be way better than what I had before though. The transmission crossmember is a homemade piece that moves the mount up inside the tunnel instead of below it. My torque arm setup is far from typical as well. It's only about 18 inches long but doesn't come anywhere near the exhaust.

Re: LS 2" Headers

I'm interested in more info on the torque arm. I have a different setup as well. Mine are like a very short ladder bar. Interested in trying something new. Thanks, Mike.

Does your torque arm attach to the crossmember that's in front of the housing? Is this something you fabbed from scratch, or bought and installed? How well does it work? Very insterested, details PLEASE. Setup and quality of work looks very good.
