rust repair

i have a 82 firebird and the left side cab corner is rotted how do i fix this problem and the inside of the rocker panel is bad is there a replacement for it please help

Good question, I have the same issue. I would think you could cut the bad spot out and weld some new metal in, but I'm not sure what to use in terms of what kind of welder or what kind of metal so..

That's pretty much what you have to do. Floor pans are actually sold for our cars but other areas like the firewall, most of the sub-frame, etc. are not. You'd need a donor car to transplant metal from or fabricate what you need yourself. Though this is much more difficult to do and even more so if you try and match the factory metal/body contours. You can use MIG or TIG welders and many people have their preferences and thoughts on which is best. My research led to the thinking that MIG is typically best for most jobs but TIG has its uses. Fabrication of exhaust headers etc. is typically best accomplished with TIG welding.
