Re: Removing last 8" off front subframes.....thoughts?

so finally got it up on a lift to cut cut cut.

I had to cut a "v" notch out of the passenger side subframe stub that was left in order to have clearance for the 3.5" collectors I'll be running. Planning on plating the ends and welding roll cage tubing from that to the jegs perimeter subframe connectors and it should be stronger than stock. Some of that sheetmetal is very thin that was cut out.

My Ed Quay 1 7/8 headers fit awesome and were reasonably priced if you are looking for SBC headers.

Yes as matt said they're ls headers and I built stepped headers which no one offers iirc. Either way the subframe had to come out for the size collectors I chose and to have any kind of ground clearance for street driving.

Hey xpndbl3, what did you do when you cut out the frame there?

Do you have any pics of the end result?

A few posts up say what I did. Only have pics of it plated off. Nothing to see really. Too busy with my business to take anymore at the moment. Give me a week or so to get it back up in the air for pics

Re: Removing last 8" off front subframes.....thoughts?

Box that area and send a piece of 1 5/8 tubing to the front lca eyelet from that boxed area. It's a straight shot and gives a lot of room for headers, TA etc.... Plus you can ditch the heavy sfc's then. The round tubing will give a great base to make a removeable tubular trans crossmember and also if you need to add a sperate TA mount.

Re: Removing last 8" off front subframes.....thoughts?

Thanks its on my list of things to do soon. Haven't had a chance to touch the car since thirdgenfest due to working too much. I'll have to measure how much tubing to get soon. Definitely need to make a trans crossmember. Still have your pics saved....I'll try my best to make it the same way.
