exhaust vacuum ?

well ive always been one to notice, and get my head rapped around something real inexpensive, lets just say im not to much like other guys. Alot of guys have said 'o you cant do that' or 'he dont know what hes talking about'. Yet ive seen all of this stuff done. And also ill admit my love for SBC hasnt shattered one bit. Or carbs, This forum has hated the idea of sbc, LS engine swaps are thing of the now. Of coarse there all the same but this design i made of an exhaust vacuum pipe, i am going to fab, i will try and find a welder but i am not so sure of that cuz its hard to find one in this town so i hope anyone out there checking this out could have a crack at it. Its based off simple Physics, pressure temp relationship. It was theory, but id like to see someone benifit from it. If you do not get how it works. Than physics 101 pressure temp relationship. Ok so as you all know, things get pretty hot when pressurized, and gets cold when you let alot of pressure off lets say like a CO2 canister for a paint ball gun. It turns ice cold. Well this is a vacuum design at one end its suppose to be cooler due to length and duel outlets. But at the front it would be hotter, so pressure from one end of the pipe will then move towards the cooler end more easily, make sence? Have a gander and i hope you enjoy. P.S you might wanna Zoom in

Re: exhaust vacuum ?

huh?
What are you trying to accomplish?

If you're trying to do a venturi in the exhaust then it will be a huge exhaust restriction and the engine will choke.

You already have a small venturi in the exhaust. It starts at the exhaust valve and ends at the exhaust manifold. Open it up from the manifold back and flow will increase.

Re: exhaust vacuum ?

Looks kinda like an X-pipe. Whatever you are trying to do, quit wasting your time.

Re: exhaust vacuum ?

ok well i was trying to mimick those propertys of an x pipe, but in a bigger scavenging affect. Once air blasts down the single tube to the bigger tubes, from cylinder say number one, it would also suck the exhaust out of one side of the engine, while traveling down and cutting the exhaust back pressure by 2 times, depending on firing order, and engine speed. i was thinking more evened out than this drawing, for an fbody(not an artist) but this pipe would lie somewhere you would put your catylatic convertor.

Re: exhaust vacuum ?

also if you notice in the picture there is two bigger outlets, the pipe is intended for full length duel exhausts to the rear. Its like taking two Ypipes and sticking them back to back... Except one is bigget aka the outlets.

Re: exhaust vacuum ?

So instead of re-inventing the wheel you are just inventing? What are you doing or trying to do and why? Maybe your time would be better spent on something else, maybe????????

This is called exhaust pulse tuning. A properly speced header design is supposed to do just as you described however the priciple is somewhat different.
If you would like to do a little research, read this article.
