It is. 50w is overkill.

It's too much light for my eyes and I'm only 20. 35w would be much easier on my eyes. Over driving those bulbs makes them yellower as well. You just can't tell in that pic.

i agree, i used 35's in my car and they are more than enough. and oncoming drivers can still see where they are going...

Re: Pop-up deletes that look good
Over the cutoff there is still zero light. Coming at you, there is no difference between 50 and 35 watt. The difference and what makes it too bright is when I'm meeting someone at the top of a hill. Then it's too bright.
I have seen it coming at me as it sits and there is actually less glare than our '10 RS/SS Camaro. Those are OEM 35w projector setup.

That's the beauty of projectors
Like I said, less glare than the new Camaro. Well, pretty much any vehicle for that matter. They are very easy on the eyes.

These pics were taken with all the settings on the camera on manual, all the same.

^^See, this is above the cutoff. The foreground is still very very visible. Relatively no glare.^^
This is below the cutoff. Extremely intense. This is what I'm worried about and why I say 50w is overkill:

It's like having the sun mounted in a big *** reflector aimed all the way down the road. Lol. That's how it feels anyway.

Haha I'm sure that's what you were shooting for anyways! I think I'll try the 35w setup when I first install mine.

Haha so it seriously is too much light right now? Or are you just scared of blinding people who find themselves above the cutoff?

It seriously is too much light. It is too hard on the eyes when there is no other ambient light. After long drives at night my eyes feel strained, and sometimes I even catch myself squinting. Lol.

Yea projector hids are so much better than sealed beams its no comparison. 35w with good projectors is all you'll ever need.

That's too low to the ground. Probably not legal either.
Any 30 amp automotive relay should do just fine.

Well I saw it had a blazer fog light projector kit, it has a bunch of different relays to choose from, 9006 and a bunch of H#
Re: Pop-up deletes that look good

I wanted to do the same style install but wanted to keep the stealth factory look when they were off. My thoughts were to install a piece of tinted plexi in front of the lights or lightly nightshading them. But I was worried about the light output being reduced. Around the time that install hit here on tgo, HIDs were not as big as they are now or as attainable on a decent budget. So recently I have rethought about about doing reds install but going with HID bulbs in the housing to overcome the tinted lens... decisions, decisions

Re: Pop-up deletes that look good
I was the one who did the pop up deletes on the first page of this thread. Thanks for the kind responses.
The light output on those projectors is pretty good, the look of the deletes is pretty good as it helps that your using the stock covers, but the look of the single projector still bothers me (hence Why I went with a 2nd halogen projector for my 2nd design). I found that the height of the projector FX-R is a good bit taller than the morimoto mini H1's that i ended up going with. Basically a 30mm difference in height. Also all HID projectors are NOT sealed, halogen projectors are fully sealed but you can not fully seal a HID projector as too much heat is produced. The open space allows cool air to cool the bulb and housing. By decreased the height of the projector you could have increased the height of the lense (Compared to how much is getting cut off from the bumper) which will put more light on the ground right in front of the bumper. You should take some pics on level ground of the light output within the first 15ft of the bumper.
Im running the morimoto mini H1 projectors with H1 8000K bulbs with a 55W DDM slim digital ballasts. The 55W kit will wash the bulbs color out and it will appear more like a 5000-6000K bulb. Ive also used 35W ballasts (first design) with Hella halogen projectors and the light output was decent, but nothing compared to the 55W kit. Honestly Dont think you could have too much light to see where your going esp when all these retards are running around with HIDs in stock headlamps (imports) blinding just about everyone and themselves.
Overall, good job! now enjoy them! I still get very excited to drive my car at night and to flip those HIDs on and get that beam and very sharp cutoff
. best part is that the cutoff of the morimoto and FX-R projectors is better/sharper and has better light output than most of the newer BMW, audi, mercedes etc.

But, depending on how I sit in the car, you can't tell the limiter is there.
8000k bulbs? You'd be surprised how much usable light you will gain by getting some OEM 4300k bulbs in there. They will look yellow compared to what you have now but will still be very white once your eyes get used to them. That high of kelvin rating has much much less usable light that a lower rating. 4300k has the most usable light of all the color temps.
Actually, now that I'm used to the amount of light and have them adjusted perfectly, I would not step down to 35w. Mainly because of the amount of backroads driving I do.
I love driving at night! It looks stunning everytime the lights come on! Lol

Reason I went with 8000K bulbs is bc of the 55w kit, the 55w kit will wash out the bulb to about a 5500K to 6000K bulbs, therefore decreasing the kelvin of the bulb and putting out more/better light. If i went with a 4300K bulb with a 55w kit it would have washed out the color of the bulb and made it even yellower. Im not into the yellow look of headlights, reason is that the HIDs look great with crisp white light and the cutoff gives it a beautiful rainbow like cutoff. If ive left alittle bit of light on the table then so be it bc i drive in a very urban area and the roads are lit pretty well. I did get a pair of 6000K bulbs as spares so i can test different temps to see which i like best, the 6000K bulbs should wash out to a 5000K bulb nicely which will give me alittle more usuable light. Ive just left the 8000K bulbs in bc they look good and they havent burnt out yet lol.
There is a noticeable difference in light output from the 35w to 55w kits, and I would use a 55w kit if you got a good projector thats vented. However for fog lights and retrofitting into halogen projectors/fog lights/regular lights I would stick with a 35w kit as the heat generated by the 55w is alot. Im going to put either a 4300K or 3000K 35w kit in my projector fog lights and point them lower than my Low beams to get alittle more light in front of the car.

These light are sick I hate the single projector it looks like an eye ball and when you have the pair like on the vette it takes that eye ball look away and gives it a more modern look with high beam and low beam if someone could make a dual projector pop up head light I would buy it and maybe make fog light projector to
